Is Nirnhoned really worthless as gear trait now?

Why don't they just bring back the old nirnhoned weapon effect? 18% spell pen and 10% spell resistance.

You're right there isn't much use for it in gear.

For a trait the has whole quests about it and has an end of quest line reward ... you would think it would be more important in gear.

The unfortunate thing now is that ZOS has shoehorned players into using particular traits and ignored the uselessness of the others for so long that people would go completely nuts if the traits were rebalanced.

I suspect most would welcome a slight buff to nirnhoned.

Sure, but what about the people who grinded for months to get their Sharpened weapons? If Nirnhoned were suddenly better they'd go insane.
    And?
Are they seriously expecting that Morrowind will not add better gear than previous ones?
Will people do the new content if the raid drop gear who do +5% damage against guars?

No not an nerf but the power creep, as i said before an CP increase on gear would have no impact on the 1% as they would have to farm new gear anyway because of new sets.
nerfing the existing ones would be worse.
Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

I'm researching nirnhoned traits now, not so much for the trait as for Morrowind crafted sets.

I mean in pvp bascially everyone is on impen armor...If i use nirnhoned to increase flat damage wouldn't that be better than sharpen? Or is it really nerfed to the group to the point where its only use is to get 9 trait?

Ur saying nirmhoned is better then impen but then say ur talking about weapons only? Which is it?

#1 Sharpened is better then nirn
#2 impen is better then nirn on armor.

5000 penetration is just mandatory for a 2 hand weapon or one hand weapon ( 2500 )

Its why people like myself farm religiously for impen armor and sharpened weapons

    :|
hope both sharpen and impen get their nerf next patch

Why? Shouldn't it be "I hope other traits get brought up to speed like Impen/Sharpened is"
Enough with the nerf calling already. If something works as it should be and is not broken doesn't mean it needs nerfing. How about ask ZoS to balance other traits to be just as useful, but perhaps for different scenarios? How's that for a thought?

There is only ONE case where Nirnhoned is still good - shields. Nirnhoned shields gives slightly higher resistance than Reinforced. In any other instance Nirnhoned works against your build, and for a rare trait... that's really bad.

ZOS acts like Nirnhoned is special, but in reality it's anything but.

They can fix this in two ways. Buff precise and nirnhoned to a point where they are on par with sharpened, or nerf sharpened to a point where it's either useless or on par with precise and sharpened.

I vote buff, but ZOS loves to nerf... (Takes less work)

ZoS has a tendency to overreact on balancing issues, I'm guessing when/if they deal with it, it will be nerfed into uselessness.

Take note of this thread the next time someone tells you that you MUST wear only a certain type of gear. Eventually the nerf hammer comes for us all. Usually the people who demand that you only wear certain gear are the loudest complainers when the quarterly nerf hammer starts getting swung.

Let the thousands of people who spent millions of gold on VR 14 Nirnhoned gear be a warning to you. It'll come for impen and sharpened eventually.

Too bad. Like everyone else I have farmed for and/or purchased Sharpened weapons, but the fact that they are BIS for almost every situation makes them too strong.
