I've been harvesting lumber nodes like a mad jackass, and no heartwood drops so far; might as well make a game of it-- let's see who can hatchet the MOST lumber nodes before getting any heartwood to drop. Post your highest node numbers (just count the node, not the quantity of materials in the drop) on this discussion thread. Now, let's get out there and see how much nuthin' we can rake in!

I got 5 heartwood from a heavy sack. haven't got any from nodes, I haven't been farming ruby ash nodes though.

I've harvested a little over 50 I think on my normal mat runs over the last two weeks . The Bast for clothing mats is hardest for me to find .

I keep seeing that they're so scarce but I find them all the time when I'm just running through places questing. Maybe I should go farm some...

They all drop like mad for me I sell them all 1k each, I get most of the alchemical resin. This was spending an hour or 2 farming in craglorn though

I once found 3 Heartwood in one node. Never seen more than 2 since.

Just an update--since originally posting this thread, I've harvested a little over 70 nodes and only found 2 heartwoods so far. I guess it's true that "life ain't fair."

I got a double drop of Heartwood last week in a node, but on average I'm lucky to see one piece every couple of weeks. I've made some furniture for my son for his house, and I had to buy the Heartwood needed in the end. Trying to farm it wasn't yielding anything at all

I think it is just cyclical. Sometimes you will go for a stretch where you find it all over and other times you start suspecting someone invisible is stealing it from all the nodes before you get there.

Clearly it's the work of the mad god, Sheogorath.

Harvesting with a level 10 Character on the Starter Islands I get 1 every 4-6 nodes.

Harvesting with my Vet character I get 1 every 20+ nodes.

It is one of the enigmas of the game.
So I gave up on crafting and now buy furniture.
Getting gold is easier than harvesting Heartwood.

A lot of players are taking them and leaving the mats.

I can see a vast difference between normal times and lesser played times.

During peak hours I have the same experience, last night at 3 a.m. however I gots tons of everything

I gave up farming them so long ago due to the horrible drop rate. I was already spending an asinine amount of time farming blueprints, and the harvest grind killed it for me.

Well little into two weeks into this new patch on console I have a stack of each kind not even trying to farm them been finishing up the fishing achievement and just picking up stuff near rivers and lakes it's really easy or I must be an RNG god

I get per 5 nodes around 1-2 heartwood. Not that bad. I have enough of them now since I don't need more furniture in my free inn. But maybe someday I will use them.

Its been a month now and not one single piece of hartwood.

Now I will admit that I am not actively trying to farm it, but I have stopped at every wood node I see in my journeys. And I have not gotten one piece. I have given up on ever furnishing a house by crafting. The amount of wood required and the very low drop rate makes it way too hard. Which I guess is a good thing because I wont be spending any gold on a house lol

I actually watched someone do it just the other day - was behind him for a few minutes of his circuit. He bent down to harvest a variety of nodes including wood, got up, and every time the nodes were still there, with only the non-housing mats still inside. I wanted the mats anyway but whoever came behind him the remainder of his circuit may have been complaining about the impossible drop rates if they weren't close enough to watch him do it. At least the nodes respawn after a while.

I know, I was happy to take all that rejected ruby ash! I don't know why people do it but I'm not going to ask, just profit.

If people are leaving behind the "chaff" and just taking housing materials, they are fools.

You can get green, blue and purple rosins from processing wood. And the tannins or rosins or tempers ( or whatever they are) are also needed for furniture crafting... in large amounts.

Took me awhile to get my first Heartwood drop. maybe like 30-50 nodes. Since that first drop however I have noticed a huge increase on the frequency that I find Heartwood now.

All the other mats were the same but Heartwood and decorative wax took by far the longest for me to find in the beginning. Now I'm collecting at least 1 per 5-6 node (excluding Decrotive Wax) and I gain a new mat (Regulus, alchemical resin, heartwood, etc.) about 1 out of every 2-3 nodes.

IMO the rarest would probably be decorative wax Ive only gotten a small amount of those, maybe 3-4 total

Usually do a bit of harvesting and find that all of the furnishing mats tend to drop at a 1 in 4 for me doesn't matter which char I am on and most are not really crafters. How ever since most items need such a large amount of mats it means you can spend all night to get 50 to 100 heartwood and only build four or five items and it be all gone. Since many items require wood even those that are not the woodworking main...(in other words not blueprints but say patterns which are clothier) this happens very quickly. I find my complaints about said mats are mostly what ever type my focus is at the moment. If making carpets and tapestries pillows or things like that BAST is the mat I am not able to find enough of and in the quantities to satisfy. If tables chairs benches cupboards wardrobe then heartwood. Anything blue or purple likely requires runes or resins even if not praxis or formula and so on the list goes. Even find if I have the one I thought I needed more then likely there is something I am missing when I get to the crafting stations.
