Where do you get the new mats for housing?

I'd like to farm and sell them to finally make some money in this game, along with anything else that is used for housing that can be sold (home motifs?).
Do I need to use my master crafter to find said items or can I use any character?

You can use any character. The materials are found form ordinary nodes in the world such as wood or cloth. Plans for furnishings are found the same way that recipes and motif books are found so look inside everything

If you got a Plentyful Harvester passive in CP, then it would be better to use your crafter. Plentyful Harvester applies to all mats nodes except of Wax and Clean Pelts sience last patch 2.7.7. Also, I've heard that the higher trade skill the more chances to loot more furniture mats. Sometimes I get 3-4 Heartwoods from one wood node on my crafter charachter.
