I probably game for around 20 hours per week, but not all on ESO as I like to keep things fresh by running several games at a time. This is my MMO home, however, it has been since PC launch and I don't see it changing.

Also the old cliche about not having as much free time now I'm retired is true, I really don't know how I used to fit in a full-time job and still got more gaming time than I have now  !

I'm not going to stress about how many hours I play, just so you can make judgements on me, I play the game to be socialable and to be part of the community. If you see me on a lot good. If you dont see me at all, probably have real life stuff going on.

I have no desire to be part of being picked on for playing too much or being picked on because I dont play enough to compete.
I play for social aspects. Game needs to be less time focused, and more sociable focused.

When you have more of community soloing than you have grouping.
    Thats very bad
Especially if your game is under the category of...

Wow surprised at how many of us are saying we're busy with this or that. Maybe it's the mostly toxic forum, but I have sadly been under the impression that many people just sat at their computer all day.

I have 2.5 days on my current character, 60 hours. However, my character is currently at about level 27. What I'm getting at and partially the point of this thread, I can hardly fathom how people complain that the game has little content when leveling has the possibilty to take this long to reach 50. I suppose many of those people are the ones who rush through content to be the best. Nothing wrong with that, I guess I'd rather enjoy everything the game has to offer.

Goes to show you that this community isn't all bad

Married, 4 kids, full time job, and going to school. Nope, not pouring my life into any game at my age.

When I do play, I will:

    1. Check my crafting research and level up my horse.
    2. Queue for a random Vet dungeon.
    3. Start questing while queued, dailies or normal.
    4. Look for lore books and skyshards while questing.
    5. Run a random if it pops within 20-30 minutes.
    6. Research traits/deconstruct green or better items/sell non-traited white items.
    7. Log off in about 1 to 1 1/2 hours.

I play about 1.5 hours a night after work. Last year that was mostly doing GC dailies and other dailies.

Lately it's just been running writs on my characters and trying to get a bit of gold so I can afford at least some small houses for my characters. I know I'll never be able to afford the mansions, which is fine, but I still want to have a little few places of my own to experiment with.

For the first time EVER I've decided to book some video-game related annual leave for Morrowinds release. Expensive house repairs means I can't travel this year IRL, so I'll spend my holiday in Morrowind.

Hopefully ESO houses do not require expensive maintenance as well.

When I enjoyed the game it was 20-30 hrs. Per week, with ESO + and constantly buying items with crowns.

In the last two weeks, 0 hours, no sub, no crown purchases.

I think that how you choose to play is an interesting point, @ThePaulrus94. Even with my relatively limited free time, I still play the game slowly, and deliberately so. I'm not in a rush to complete content and i'm not that enamoured by the thought of PvP or endgame content. That view might change of course, but for me the journey through the game and the stories to be told, the player interaction and the sense of exploration are much more appealing. As it is, i'm pretty content with the few hours I have available to play.

time in game is spent either pursuing one or other (of many) projects or just pick a map i haven't been to for a while and just run around it collecting and visiting all the sites of interest.... delves and dolmens and such.

    then there's fishing...

Currently around 1 - 2 hours per day. Around 3 in the weekend per day. So approx. 10-16 hours per week.

But not every week, sometimes I just don't have time at all. Last month I only played around 15 hours ESO.

The gamer is like "I wasted so much time yesterday, time time time wasted, time is on my mind all the time"

The non gamer is like "Yesterday was so much fun, I'm going to try and have even more fun today"

    Difference?
Gamer is still stressed, non gamer just enjoying life like we did before games came into existance.

This is how MMORPGs evolved from
Early days, gaming in early stages.

Sit around with friends and talk to them while waiting for your HP and Mana to go back to 100%. No rush, I'll wait 10 mins for you to come back. Oh you gotta go afk now too. its okay, no rush. See you guys tommorow, lots of fun today. Just made it 1/5 way to level 9 of 50 levels.

Time time time.... Grind grind grind... Why is this game such a grind??? Time time time. This is taking too long... Time time time time...
No time to chat with you... Time is on my mind. No time to party with you. Solo is fastest way to make best use of my time time time.

    Point is,
longer you are a gamer... the more time time time you worry about.
When gaming was in early stages when people wasnt mentally disorded with mental disorder of best use of time awareness.
Gaming was pretty fun. But when you think of time all the time... Games... They aren't fun anymore. Especially when people make games based on time, rather than making it sociable, enjoyable, and fun.

Funny, I had a discussion on this last week in BDO.

Someone asked my why I played the game as I was just lvl 50, played since early access and had no armor at all. I should leave the game since I didn't try to achieve anything.

I told him I don't give anything about being the best and I don't like grinding. He told me it was a grind game so I better got used to it.

So I told him, it's only a grind game if you make it a grind game since I am not grinding at all. I told him I loved to explore, sail the seas and enjoy the scenery. Someone else in chat whispered me "I love you" when I told that so I am not the only one.

Some people like to grind and get max level ASAP and go for best gear. Well I do not. I love to chat, explore and take my time. When ESO went live there where topics of people who wanted to start a powergrind group to reach V10 within a week. Those players are long gone since they figured out after a week of 24/7 grinding there is nothing at the top.

I played SWG from end 2003 until they pulled the plug. My activities as a ranger where roleplaying, hunting and gathering bones and skin. And yes I had a blast sitting in my camp taking pictures of creatures who wandered by and posting their weaknesses and skin/bone quality of that weak for people who wanted to kill them as quick as possible and artisans.

MMO company sometimes create wonderful virtual worlds. People who only grind and go to endgame ASAP and only fast travel miss a lot of details.

But that is my opinion. Even in cyrodill during PvP I sometimes sit at a lake and admire the beautiful trees.

My work in college has changed this though - 15hrs is accurate for a typical week now I think. This number has been going down though by a lot lately (like 5-10hrs) .... :pensive:
