People have made the argument in response to this before that alliance rank should be tied to the alliance, but I could see the counterargument that rank could reflect cumulative participation in pvp in general. I would be interested to see faction loyalists losing their minds, previously same faction guilds duking it out, and forum posts imploring good players to switch to certain factions. @gibous once predicted factions hiring mercenary players to switch and fight for the cause.
I think taking a scroll and giving it to the enemy faction is hilarious. It's like a real life spy stealing classified information and giving it to the enemy. In game, just group up, follow your scroll thief, fight the enemy, and take it back! If your faction can't manage that, then...well...you got outplayed. Suck it up, regroup, and organize a push to go take the scroll back later. This is coming from a one-faction player with zero allegiances to anyone but my own one-faction guild, by the way. I take scrolls all the time and give them to no one willingly. I'm a bit of a hardass for this sort of thing to be honest. If this game is to simulate medeival warfare, why do people cry for all these rules under the banner of sportsmanship? Dueling is a sport with rules. Cyrodiil is war, and there are no rules in war.

Also you'd think fighting back for a scroll would be obvious, but hey, you didn't think to mention it! You're gonna have to thicken your skin dude. The real world is full of worse than scroll trolls.

This was back when we had arguably way too many campaigns, allowing for such activity.

I recall this very well.
I always had fun going to Haderus (when it was the AD buff server), grabbing the scrolls, and getting HOARDS of enemies to fight. The salty msgs about "MAH BUFFS" were great. Friday/Saturday nights were hilariously fun.

Yeah hiding in each other is a great "formation". I don't mention the obvious, but you seem to really want to be on a hotels.com commercial.
Have fun failing at siege and stealing your factions' scrolls.

As stated before, the actual Cyrodiil Community does not like the current state and wanted it to stay faction-based. Most players play only 1 faction for a reason. They're loyal to it. The whole purpose of PvP where you have 3 factions is so you are loyal to your own and clash against the other 2.
There is a reason why the Explorer Pack (Now Adventurer's Pack) was implemented. People could play any Race in any Alliance. They should've left it there, instead of removing Faction-Locks in campaigns.
People argue that population balance is a reason for faction-locks to be removed, but really, you are tampering with the populations by switching back and forth more than if people had a regular population that wasn't jumping from faction to faction.
Faction Locks should be a thing still.
