I don't know why, but I deleted the steam client a week ago and now I try to download it from steam I get and error so im trying to download the normal client.

So can I play the game from normal client or do I have to play it from steam?

Try logging into your account on the ESO website and downloading the launcher from there.

I can, but what I want to know is my account locked to steam? or can I just download the normal client and play?

From what I remember when I try to buy crowns it directs me to steam store, so im worried I would be locked to steam

Thnx but that was a time when the steam service was down, thats not the case for me. I think I uninstalled ESO incorrectly and so when I start the download it finished instantly when I press play I get an error. I tried deleting all the game files and uninstalling correctly but the same problem happens everytime

Are you able to access your account on account.elderscrollsonline.com ? If so, there should be a link there to download the non-steam client.

It mentions cross linking your accounts on the account page of ESO website.

Yes I can access my account through elderscrollsonline.com and I can download the client from there. I guess that means that I can play it though the normal client with no problems after I finish download?

More than likely as I think before steam users did not have access to the download client before.

Yes, you will be able to play through Steam or launch the stand alone client and log in to play.

With the number of times steam has had issues, I would never run a game through it.
I've lost a lot of progress in games due to steam server issues.

I think the general rule of thumb we try to pass around the internet is to never play an MMO through steam if it can be helped.

    :)
