Discrimination of loyal player. Gold Edition for Current player!

I like this game in all meaning. And I bought this game in early preorder.
But now I see that new player have much more beneficial offers than old player.

Gold Edition – cost €24.99EUR, and contain Game + DLC.
But as old loyal player I forced to pay much more, for same things! For me it will be €34.99EUR ONLY for DLC. And I have no option to buy Gold Edition.

I’d eager to see some fair offer for current player. So we did not feel like second-class auditor.

I think ZOS have taken the approach of more new blood (and money) better than retention efforts of old blood and money.

I hate to bash on them, but most of their business decisions have come across this way, I guess the metrics show that they're making more money off new players joining than the older ones buying content/crown store items.

New blood is great. I always glad when one of my favorite game is profitable.
But that does not excuse the fact that I as an old player is not authorized to buy Gold Edition nor similar offer.

Isn't this a standard practice, though? With a few exceptions (Witcher 3 for example), it's usually like that. I don't remember a lot of games, that would give you all DLC for free when it goes gold or GOTY.

Well ISP's, utility companies and more have been doing this for years, it's how the world works.

Wait what? I bought ps4 when it was released, costing me almost half of my pay.

Now its cheaper, HOW DARE NEW PLAYERS WHO WANT TO PLAY THE PS4 PAY LESS NOW.

You had access to the game earlier. You went through the changes. Veteran ranks, beta launch, opening launch, arrival of orsinium, dark brotherhood and thieves guild.

Hell, all games go through this.

God, the complaints. I don't support all ZoSs' decisions but damn. This is really getting way out of hand.

For an single player game you can simply buy the GOTY version, install and transfer saves.

You can not do this with ESO and ESO has lots of returning players, having an DLC pack for the same cost as gold or a bit cheaper would make sense.

Grinding just make you go in circles.
Asking ZoS for nerfs is as stupid as asking for close air support from the death star.

It’s absolutely OK when with time game become cheaper. I'm don't say anything about previous price tag.
My concern only current price for different player. And want only same rights for different group of players.

Take in to consideration that you had earlier access to the game and on top of that have had the chance to play all dlc. It's the same on world of Warcraft. I bought the base game and each expansion as it came out now got can get all of them for 1/5th the cost. So no this is standard for games with age. Welcome to bring a long term member.

It's not fair but that's how games are sold. Old stuff gets cheap and therefore can and will get bundled. Get used to it. If you were the new player, you would be happy btw.

I repeat again. It doesn't matter at what cost I bought it earlier. Matter only current price for different group of people.
And in example of WoW – current player can upgrade with bundle at same price that new player buys this bundle. I want exactly the same situation.
Because now, at this point in time, upgrade cost more than new game as a whole!

I understand that it often seems unfair when someone gets the same thing as you for less, but in this case I agree with ZOS (something I rarely do recently).

If you thought it was a fair price when you bought it... it was.

Attracting new players to an established game is difficult, and as the base game is pretty cheap, they needed to offer a bargain on the gold edition to get a new player to pay more for something they may not like. Long-term players like us benefit in many ways from more players joining the game, so anything that brings in newer players is good for us too.

I understand it's annoying, but it's what all companies do.

I used to have Virgin Media TV (UK) for a year or so, then switch to Sky for a year or so then switch back.

On average I got at least 50% off for Sky, my best deal being 75% off for 12 months on their come back to Sky offers, Virgin was never that good, but I still always paid a LOT less than loyal subscribers by getting £100+ cashback deals for 'new' customers.

I'm about to buy a 2nd account, so £19.99 for everything is a great bargain for me :)

That said, if Ii'm not mistaken, it would cost an existing subscriber slightly more than the Gold edition to buy the download packs, ESO could give all download packs to existing subscribers for the same amount.

If other gaming sites are correct, the Gold edition is also on special offer and isn't usually £19.99, for instance Humble bundle has it as a special with 40% off for 3 days and it's £23.99 reduced from £39.99

Hey it's not entitlement mentality to want to upgrade your game but the company decides to offer a sale which positions existing players to pay more

That's not entitlement. They aren't complaining about normal prices, but pointing out the existing customers are being excluded from the same sale which folks is a BIG deal cause gold edition gives you dlc on all servers Whitley the gold pack gives dlc only on one server.

It's more per server than the cost for all servers.....that's not what other companies have been doing
Other companies offer dlc by price and then a gold or platinum edition later but the dlc individually drops in price other than the latest.

Point being in the mmo market we all can go back to an old game and buy a discounted bundle and upgrade our old game. ZOS isn't doing it that way at all

Just because others do it doesn't mean it's the correct practice.

Having said that, personally I don't care because anything that brings in new players into this game is a benefit for the community in general. And hopefully decent players as well, this solo-rp-fun-casual attitude at the moment will eat this mmo faster than a cancer would.

All games go on sale eventually?

There's a whole culture of gamers, who wait to buy games, because they go cheaper. I don't believe it is discrimination at all.

Secondly it brings new players to the game! This is such a big benefit, the more players they have the longer the game will be supported, a big thriving community, is a great thing for an MMO.

I do understand what you mean though. If they are offering a full game discount, then maybe it would be wise to offer a just DLC discount too. I'm sure they will release a DLC discount in the future.

Whether it's fair or not it's absolutely not a new practice and should not come as a surprise to anyone.

Years ago I went into town with the intention of buying Morrowind, but ended up getting something else instead. The next month I went back to get Morrowind and found the Game of the Year edition had just been released. It cost the exact same price as the base game had the week before, but it came with both expansion packs.

That time I got lucky, other times I've been the one who 'lost out' by buying a game early and then finding a new version was released later on. But I don't worry about it, because what you do get by being an early adopter is more time to play, and especially with MMOs that can make a big difference.

And if you don't agree and you think getting a discount is more important just remember in future this will always happen and wait a year or two before you buy a game.

I bought the imperial edition November 2015. Didn't play for much more than a couple hours. Came back this year when gold was released. Because of how the game was linked to my husband's steam account, I decided to just purchase another account by buying the Gold Edition.

However, the Guts and Glory deal in the crown store is comparable to the Gold edition. It doesn't come with the 500 crowns (because that's for new accounts) or the horse. So, there is an offer for you.

Anyone who bought the game in the first year would have gotten at least some free crowns when the game switched to Buy to Play. Even I got some "loyalty" crowns and I'd only bought the game a month before.

Ah, here we go: "As a current subscriber: If you are an active subscriber when The Elder Scrolls Online: Tamriel Unlimited launches, you will receive 500 crowns for having a game account, plus 100 crowns for each 30-day period you have been an active subscriber. In addition, you'll be automatically enrolled in ESO Plus for the remainder of your subscription period. You'll receive the full benefits of membership, and 1500 crowns for each 30-day period remaining on your subscription."

(So I got 2100, and most existing players would have gotten more.)
