Valentine's Day Crown Sale?

@ZOS_GinaBruno What are the chances of them doing a Crown Coin sale this weekend on behalf of Valentines Day?

    Unlikely.

Business wise they want Crowns at max value right now, as there is a big reason for people to buy them. They're better doing sales when there is no reason for people to buy them so people think "I should get them now while cheap" and they can keep the demand on them during quiet times.

why is everyone asking for a discount on crowns these days...
they surely wont do that after the new patch, when they want people to spend their crowns on the new houses and furniture. I bet you can wait until anniversary - at least.

Maybe, but ofcourse they won't tell you when a sale happens. Else nobody would buy it anymore at full price

By the same logic it's not actually stupid to have a sale now or very soon ppl tossing up the idea would get that gentle push to spend money at the crown store if they were cheaper in the end ZOS wants money real money and they would not have put this system in the store if they want you to only pay in game gold for it and make no money!!

I've got enough in game gold for a medium house there a still a lot of players who A. Don't find much use for housing B. Has so much in game gold they don't need to buy with crowns C. Pissed at no storage in there houses... all that translates to less revenue for ZOS if it's not brought with crowns..

Sometimes they don't even revealing when it's happening. There's been at least a couple of times I've only known a sale was happening because someone posted about it on this forum or because I went to buy crowns and remembered them costing more previously.

There were no announcements in-game, on the website or on Facebook. Even if you went to the store there was nothing to tell you it was cheaper than normal, just the lower price displayed and you had to remember what they normally cost to notice any difference.

Sometimes I think they want to have sales so they can tell us we had the option to buy crowns cheap, but don't want anyone to actually do it. Except they never mention it afterwards either.

Probably a low chance for a Valentine's Day sale.

@ZOS_MattFiror doesn't come off as being a big romantic.

@ZOS_GinaBruno is a different story. She is just fabulous and we all should send her flowers to show her our appreciation.

I'd wager there will be a discount on Crowns in about two months.

By then, anyone who was going to buy Crowns at full retail price to take advantage of the new housing/furniture features will have already done so. Also, that's right around the anniversary of the original PC release (as someone else noted) and just before the debut of the Morrowind "Chapter."

Frankly, if they wanted to make a fortune at retail, Zenimax would offer a 75% discount on Crowns with our purchase of Morrowind for ESO+ subscribers. There have been justifiable grumblings from subscribers who are peeved Morrowind is being abstractly defined as not-really-DLC. That whole argument aside, offering a 75% discount on Crowns to ESO+ subscribers at the time you purchase Morrowind will ensure virtually every ESO+ subscriber buys Morrowind and also spends *more* real cash on Crowns. If announced in advance, it would entice a lot of people who are on the fence about ESO+ to take the plunge and subscribe.

Trying to discount Crowns by ESO+ membership might be too complicated for a one-time sale, however. Unless Zenimax thought doing such a sale for each new "chapter" we get to encourage retail success.

Although, as an aside, Zenimax doesn't have much of an excuse to pretend as if their profit margins are slim. I just read Zenimax won an IP lawsuit for $500 million, so it's not like they're strapped for cash.

You are aware that ZoS (aka, Zenimax Online Studios) is a subsidiary of ZENIMAX, right? Don't let the name fool you. Also don't let the fact that I did not once say "ZoS won an IP lawsuit" slow you down, you know, if you're intent on *continuing* to split hairs with me.

And obviously the ruling is being appealed, but civil appeals are almost as unsuccessful as criminal ones. My point remains valid, which is that Zenimax has no excuse to poor-mouth.

EDIT: Necessary addendum -- I have to point out how hilarious it is that "notimetocare" absolutely had time to care about this non-distinction.
