Anybody know if we are going to get our skill points refunded with homestead update?

Only if there's been changes to skills.

I'm not sure what you are asking?

You can already reset your skill points by going to a Shrine in the Capitals and paying gold to reset them. I do this every now and then when I want to go a different direction with a toon. For example, you can go to the Cathedral in Wayrest and use the shrine to reset them, and on the other side is the shrine to reset your attributes.

No. Since about 3 patches ago automatic skill point reset was left out.

Boy, I sure hope so. It seems like that would be the fair thing to do, or at least make redoing skill points super cheap for a week like they did they last time they made significant class changes.

If anything respects will cost 1 gold per point. We wI'll not know if anything will be offered until the patch drops.

There are a few. Although last couple of times they didn't reset skill points. Apparently people can't remember where they placed them from the last time they logged in and cried on the forums.
  • Kevin_of_Devinshire
Oh, I see now, because the skills are being respected.

They'd better - skills have been re-ordered too so could be some bugs from that if we don't get them reset.

Last time they did, the forums exploded with people upset because they had to put their skill points back in.

I doubt ZOS will do it ever again.

I would be fine with a 1 gold per point change cost like they have done before.

Haven't they just done highly discounted reset costs for the first week of launch with updates since the auto-reset debacle.

For whatever reason, some people on the forums love to lie about why people objected to forced skill point refunds and respecs. What people complained about was that the forced refund of all skill points was a far worse system than the way it was done before, and that there were other ways it could be done that would also be better.

The way it was done before was that for a period of time (a couple of weeks IIRC) you could respec at a shrine as normal, except the price was reduced to 1 gold (or maybe it was 1 gold per skill point - I don't remember, but the point was that it was so cheap it was essentially free). This was far, far better because if you didn't want to change your skill points you didn't have to, and if you did want to you could test out multiple different skills/morphs over a period of time and respec as many times as you liked until you had a very good idea of what the changes actually meant, and you settled on the build you wanted.

This also meant that for people with many alts they would be able to examine the builds of each of their alts on their own time, and take their time about deciding on the respecs for each of them one at a time. With the forced respec the only option was either to immediately place 3000-4000 skill points when first logging on and hope that in all of that you didn't miss putting skill points into some things that you needed on some of those characters, or to not do it right away and be forced not to play your alts until you have done it. With the cheap respec instead, you can actually play each of your alts for a bit first to see if you even want to respec, and after playing the alt for a bit you do the respec for just that one alt while it's fresh in your mind what skill points you want to keep where, so you're much less likely to screw it up. And if you do screw it up the respec is so cheap that you can fix it right away anyway.

Other options that were also far better than the forced skill point refund and respec were also requested, such as having a respec token mailed to each character. This wouldn't be as good as the 1 gold respecs in many ways, but it would mean that you wouldn't have anyone miss the cheap respec period. If someone logs on for the first time 2 months after the update they'd still have the respec token so they could respec if they wanted to, and it would still be far better than a forced respec, as they could test out their existing setup first to understand how things changed and whether they even want to respec, instead of just having all skill points refunded and having them go and place their skill points effectively blind.

But of course, that doesn't fit the false narrative that some people like to promote about "oh, stupid people whined for no good reason, and this is why we can't have nice things."
