How to enjoy this game without friends to play with?

I have noone to play this game with. Like a friend to lvl up together or something like that. And I like to read and listen to every npc and translate every word I don't understand so probably noone would want to wait for me anyway. What to do besides questing?

You can always join a chill social pve guild, trust me you're not the only one who want to read the quests and actually know what's going on, not just running around killing mobs.

Questing is the best feature this game has for solo players, if you don't count delves and public dungeons (that also have some quests). Other than that you will probably need someone to advance (world bosses, dungeons, trials, pvp etc).

If you're playing on PC NA then you could join our guild called Fortunes Favoured. It's a relatively small guild and our GM sounds just like you. You can send me a friend request @Stovahkiin135 if you are interested :)

Well if you know the answer let me know :p I mean the normal quests lines I enjoy more when just playing solo but it sucks for places like Craglorn or dungeons where you just can't listen to the quest givers because people wanna run through it and get it over with

Since coming back I have been facing these issues a little.

I really enjoy group dungeons but don't want to commit to any guilds again and really dislike general PUG groups, however I accept these are self inflicted issues.

Find what you can do alone and you seem to have fun doing, and do lots of that. If you find what you want to be doing requires people then find some groups randomly or check the guild recruitment forums for something relaxed and casual.

Have you tried Maelstrom Arena or playing solo in PVP? It's not too difficult to find hiding spot near a bridge or gate and try to sneak attack enemy players riding by on a horse.

You don't need friends to play the game. Just go solo. Or join a guild.

Fishing, crafting, try the Dark Brotherhood or Thieves guild (yes questing, but also stealing, sneaking etc).

Check the guild section for your platform/server, there are usually guilds to socialize or simply casual play, learn dungeons - maybe you would like role playing?

Soon housing, more crafting and decorating.

Fight for your land, join the forces in Cyrodiil (PvP).

Even though I'm apart of 2 guilds that do a lot of group-based events, I hardly participate; prefer to play solo. How do I find amusement and enjoyment in doing so, you ask? Simple. I treat ESO as a MMO-variant of Skyrim. Meaning, I tend to: Farm, practice, and build my characters in a way that will excel in solo-based situations. Doing so has enabled me to: Beat veteran dungeons with hard mode active, have a large sum of crafting materials available to me at any given time, be able to craft whatever I need/want whenever I want, not rely on others to get things done, and so on.

Well, for one there is always more questing to level your characters, earn your CP and get through the content (without getting frustrated by others who want to click past the dialouge while you want to follow the story - once you know all the stories, you may be less anxious about that one, because then you too can click through them if you want on your next alt).
Then there is farming for those gear sets you always wanted.
And hunting achievements of many kinds.
And collecting crafting stuff, both materials and hunting down the more elusive motivs, doing writs and such.
And exploration, finding all the hidden places and treasure chest locations, mages guild books or thieves trove spots...
At some point you will even want to see if you can solo some of the easier groupy things, public dungeons and such (even if you fail, you can learn a lot from facing such challenging content - best way to try out any new combat setup, see what works and what doesn't...).

And of course PvP, or rather if you are new to that, respawning a lot in cyrodil - but hey, even if your PvPness is not as great as some peoples, you can have some fun there now and then. ;)

And finally, there is roleplaying, for which you need friends again.

But friends can be found (even hardcore sociophobes like me can on occasion find a friend. Sometimes I even work myself up to messaging them after a month or three...).
Joining a nice guild can help.
Having a neat character that makes people want to get to know you can also help.
Posting on the forums can also help, at the very least you can see who might have compartible flavors of wierdness for you from what other people post here and there ;)

    Up to you.

All my friends quit last November because of reasons and I'm all alone now in game, so besides questing I mostly chat with randoms on zone chat.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

I played without any friends for more than 2 years now. The game is great on its own and you can make friends in game and through guilds.

Most of my close friends are not gamers so it was hard to convince to play a game that takes so muh time.

But until now I'm addicted to this game and never felt bored

Get off these forums and game and get some real friends. And then play when your tired of dealing with other people. A family and some bills would make u appreciate some solitude.

lots of good suggestions for sure in this thread:
    • Join a casual social guild
    • Join a RP guild
    • Even starting this thread

with so many people playing this game, being open about the gamestyle u like, like you do here, hopefully u find people that enjoy that kinda game style.

I myself recently started listen to the dialog and reading some of the text from scrolls I find in open world :) but its in a small matter still

I honestly, in all my solo play in these 2 years am enjoying it.

I miss one option - to exclude voice acting, as it can be annoying sometimes. Yeah I know, lots of effort brought into it, but I prefer just reading through, occasional npc blurb along the way is just enough, like in Morrowind.

Group bosses - I just keep that and wait for the map to get filled up and gather with unknown people to beat it, if I can't solo it.

Whatever I can do solo, I will do.

Not yet into dungeons though, I did 1-2 maybe. Just for the test.

I played for a good half a year before I found my way into a small social Guild, but even then a lot of the time I log on and play by myself without going into the Guild Chat. It's not too hard to enjoy playing on your own, you can just get immersed into your own character and treat ESO like a Singleplayer game for the most part.

If you want to change it up and not do Questing, you can give yourself little goals/missions, like hunting down all the blue Lorebooks to get your Mage's Guild to Rank 10, or completing every Public Dungeon you can find for the Skill Point.
