Major Issue - Store & Account Management Patch Notes - 1/18

Hello,
My father has an ESO Plus subscription which is payed through march (and on reoccurring payment). He had the game as standalone originally, but then bought it on Steam later for easier access and was given the option to link the steam to his existing account, which he did. Since then he has successfully logged in using Steam (with no password etc) for quite a few months without issue.
After this 1/18 patch, he logged into the game as per normal (via Steam) and was greeted with a message that he no longer has an ESO Plus subscription. His inventory is full of crafting materials now, and the craft bag says that items can only be withdrawn but not deposited. He's checked his account to ensure that he does, in fact, have an active ESO Plus membership still.
Something has gone terribly wrong. Is this expected during this maintenance? As far as I can tell, the maintenance should be complete by now?
