The whole argument against letting people hide vampirism is ridiculous

✭Only reason why it's out of hand is because people are salty that they're tired of vampires. Why? I don't know. Maybe it's because Lycanthropy hasn't been deemed all that viable to major builders. Maybe it's because they think that it's an OP skill that doesn't belong.
What is for certain is that the diatribes they present are pretty much out of spite; there's no real definitive argument that's been presented in either topic so far and any attempt at it's either been sad, pathetic, or both.
Give us a toggable skill that has to be slotted to disguise it for a certain amount of time. Make us waste a skillpoint. Or make it a disguise. I really don't care. But for a simple mechanic to not match up with the lore is pretty annoying.
With the call to it, you'd think we're asking for class nerfs... But we're not. The salt is hilariously amazing over it.Tell me lies, tell me sweet little lies! -

Logical - how many vampire stories have you read. In just how many of them the very core of what makes a vampire scary was that they could pass as mortal for as long as they choose... from Bram Stoker to the more modern stories of Anne Rice or WoD's Masquerade, nearly all the vampire stories hit that pattern. Why? Maaaybe... because its logical?You know, I've argued against hiding Vampirism more than once because I'm always trying to support keeping things logical and lore friendly, but now I just don't care anymore. Go ahead and give them the option, doesn't affect me whatsoever.
Lore - Verandis Ravenwatch did it. And ESO is properly licensed, thus part of TES lore, so... like it or not, there is at least one precedent...
In the end, it will be their decision. And most likely influenced by "how can we sell this for extra profit?" more likely then not

I wouldn't go so far as to say most. A few definitely are from later eras. There is an in game explanation, however. The lorebooks, as in the actual glowing purple ones that you find and pick up have been scattered around by Hermaeus Mora. I forget exactly where you get confirmation on this, Greenshade or Reaper's March, I think. He's got a throwaway line, mentioning he's been scattering the books around to tempt mortals. (And, no, I'm not thinking of the Kenarthi's Roost quest, though that's probably the same thing.)
Also, this isn't exactly new. Some of the Black Books in Skyrim are explicitly from the future (sometime after the fourth era, at any rate.)
The Daedric Princes have a somewhat "consensual" relationship with time, and it amuses Hermaeus Mora to drop anachronistic books across the landscape, then watch the mortals lose their minds searching for those things.
What's interesting, if you really go digging through the in game texts, is you can occasionally find people responding to finding books that shouldn't be loose. This also leads to an ironic situation with The Lusty Argonian. Either Crassius Curio's a plagiarist (among other things), or the book was sent into the past, or (more amusingly) both are true.
Another example is Ruminations on The Elder Scrolls, which has an editor's note complaining about the 4e printing date on the book. So, this one I have no support for, but my initial impression was that Cropsford was another situation like Rorikstead in Skyrim. Where the same town has been founded multiple times. These two are a lot more complicated, and tied together. It's probably more accurate to compare the vestige to a daedra than an undead. Ironically, something that comes up in the Alik'r and Bankorai plotlines. There's also a weirdness in that the Vestige does have a soul, they're just not in possession of it. It's in Cold Harbour, which is part of why they're able to revive. They can be, "killed," but their soul is bound elsewhere so they can recreate their body, as you said, from the blue goo.
This is also, probably, why they can become a lycanthrope or vampire, but it requires special effort. Normal mortals, with their soul residing in their body, can simply be infected. But, for the Vestige to carry either curse, they need to go out of their way and get Hircine or Lamae to convert them. If they don't, the curse never properly manifests. This suggests that their soul still exists (which is supported simply by the fact that it can be reclaimed at the end of the main quest), but that external intervention is necessary to affect it. The best argument against your suggestion is that it prevents people from being able to tell who is a vampire. You point out you can hide this anyway by wearing a costume. But is that really the case? Because when I put on a costume I still look like a vampire.
So my preference is that they keep it the way it is. If it bothers other players that much, I could live with allowing players to hide the monster though. There are numerous examples of vampires hiding their true form, so it wouldn't be an unreasonable change. But when it comes to my list of priorities, this isn't even on the list.

Costumes are different than polymorphs. Disguises are different than costumes as well. So it really is the case that it totally conceals your character's vampirism. You can also be fully clad in various styles where you 100% don't show skin.
Tell me; can you deduce which character is a vampire and which isn't? Or is this not preventing deduction of vampirism?
