White Gold weapon drops - I thought things were supposed to drop more intelligently?

I spent today trying to get a Spell Power Cure restoration staff in defending. I bought 600k worth of key fragments and opened the chest 30 times. I did get one resto staff - it was charged. I also ran the dungeon with 160+ cp friends 74 times. One time a SPC resto staff dropped and it was training. SPC is a healing set, why isn't it dropping more? Why did I deconstruct 19! SPC Bows? Who is healing with a bow build? The named drop is Molag Kena Touch. A lightning SPC staff? That's confusing. I got SPC swords, shields and axes. Meanwhile, I got countless resto staffs of the imperium. And resto staffs of Essence Thief. Who uses these? It's ridiculous. Also, shouldn't SPC open with 60 key fragments? That would seem to make sense.

Common misconception.

When they said they made sets drop more intelligently, they removed the drops that cannot activate the 5th bonus.
For example, a bow cannot activate the 5th bonus of Ravager, so they removed it.

They did a half arse job of it though, because you can still find drops like: a resto straff that gives you X more spell damage to your destro staff abilities.

Just going to say, lightning staves are really good on healers as your destro staff. I use Molag Kena Touch myself.

As for whether they drop, I have an SPC precise resto staff, so yes they do.

This is why I stopped wasting my key fragments... I don't even remember how many of them I wasted trying to get Scathing Mage staves/jewelry, and I was getting things like resto staves of Sheer Venom...

Right now I have around 2k key fragments, and I'm not gonna use them until something will be done about this "smart loot"...

This is ZoS's entire business model - they know people want certain weapons with BiS traits, and they also know that this keeps people re-running dungeons because of the horrible odds of a particular weapon with a particular trait dropping.

In their eyes why on earth would they make it easier and quicker to get the item/trait combo you want as then you will stop running the dungeon and start complaining that you have no new content. It's a horrible business model, hide lack of content behind brutal rng, but it's working for them so there's no way they'll change it. The traits on named item drops are all the proof you'll ever need for that..

it's like they look at their data for a specific player and think:
"OMG, this psxfloh stopped running vWGT right after he got that precise SPC healing staff from a chest! We have to do sth against that kind of behaviour! What can be done? Easy, lower SPC precise healing staff drop rate! Yay!"
But sadly they completely miss the point that psxfloh was very happy and that he actually continued to play the game! And as an even more content customer than before! Incredible!

Shame on you, ZOS! You really have to work on making your players happy every now and then.. instead of forcing them into mind-numbing grinds that drives them ever further away from enjoying your game!

instead of
- "oh f*ck, another 1000 hours of grinding to get the BiS gear to stay competitive in pvp/trials" ??

oh, sry.. now I missed the point that from your perspective you prefer unhappy grinders over happy pvpers/trial-runners. silly me..

So you could drop element blockade, element clench, elem ring and elem rage for dots-a-palosa and swap to the resto bar and see all your tics damage ongoing raised by the 5th pc bonus on that resto while you heal using resto and you believe that build idea is somehow something that should not be allowed by blocking such a weapon from dropping for others? heck, with U12 or less the elem drain could even make those tics feed you magica.

With at least four slots of dots available on the destro skill list, DOT-then-swap-to-boost is not such a "half-arse" idea, as many a (possibly soon-to-be former) DW mag player could 'splain to you in about 30s.

EDIT:
Destro* - drop two dots and ring
Swap to resto
Resto - see DOST buff while you weave-heal until time to
Swap back to destro and pick it up from the top
*toss is elem rage when available

Sounds like a choke point idea to me.
