Do NOT buy the DLC Orsinium if you are looking for Maelstrom Arena

Maelstrom arena offers some decente challange on PvE level. However, I do not recommend you to buy it till they FIX THE SERVER ISSUE.

Why?

Several times you might get ping 999 in the middle of a fight (and just today I checked with my guild mates and all noticed the same lag wave, so it was not my internet connection). And with that you will die no matter what build you have. A 5 seconds lag is a kill on Maelstrom Arena. So, I ended up wasting time, several gems and gold fixing my gear. To die out there in the Arena is a common even, but when you get the SERVER LAG at the final 20% to kill the boss is really dissapoiting. I endured that at least 3 times before giving up because of the lag.

Finally, keep in mind that the same issue happens to happen in PvP areas too, so check on the forum to see if there are still complaining about crash and massive lag before buying out any DLC or deciding to becoming an ESO member.

That lag wave over the last couple days has been all over, not just the arena.

Also, the orsinium dlc is my favourite to date with a large land zone, intriguing storytelling and fun side quests and bosses.

This is from someone currently trying to beat the final boss of VMA and has to restart the game every 30 minutes in there.

One arena being weird shouldn't scare away people from the huge awesome dlc.

Maelstrom is only one arena in the Orsinum DLC ... not a DLC all on its own.

The Orsinium DLC is arguably the best DLC content in the game.

In other words, check to make sure the issue isn't on your side or with your ISP ... before declaring the whole zone as unplayable.

Also, you may believe the DLC is interesting and well made, with quests that repeat all over and over. But that's not the point. I bought the DLC only because of Malstreom Arena and there are others that may have the same desire. My post is directed to those that just want to farm the Maelstrom Arena.

I gor hit with the the lag spike in Rivenspire just a little bit ago. It cause me to DC 6 times in 10 minutes. This is ridiculous. Fix your *** Zeni. Especially since most of us pay for Eso plus.

I've been checking that with people around complaining about the same issue. It seems it doesn't affect the entire population of the server but randomly different regions and it started to happen a few days ago, along with the server crash.

I wouldn't be complaining about something that serious just because I got beaten in the Arena.

Someone mentioned a ddos attack against the server as being a possible reason for the issues.

I'm not doing the arena, but I've had freezes, game lockups and been kicked out of the game more often in the past few days than I have since early access. So something is going on.

I would imagine that everyone having problems are all slightly peeved, no matter what content they were/are doing.

Don't base it on what I say. Just read the forums. You'll see people all over have been experiencing this disconnects and lag since Friday.

Nah, go ahead and buy it. It's an awesome zone, cool story, tons of stuff to do and Maelstrom Arena is challenging! Even more so with the lag lol

It's also apparent that the problems seem primarily to be affecting the NA megaservers. It would be interesting to know whether those players affected are using the same ISP, Comcast often seems to come in for some stick whenever problems are reported.

Nope. I don't live in the US, so it's affecting people from overseas connecting to the NA PC server. Definitely don't have the same ISP as anyone in the US.

TL;DR: it's a server problem...because ZOS aren't saying anything it's looking like a ddos attack.

It's well known that Orsinium has one of the best storyline in the whole Elder Scrolls series. It's fine if you don't appreciate it, but most people do.

I'd pay for content, so that way issues get fixed so that I pay for more content so more things can get fixed...and on and on and on...

The server performance has been very poor the past several days, though it isn't tied to Orsinium or Maelstrom Arena, just general ESO performance issues.

I do agree with the advice though - if you aren't satisfied with the performance of ESO, don't subscribe and don't buy anything new from the store until such time as you feel the purchase is worth the money.

it is my favorite dlc and after that IC I never bought it until the sale when it was 750 crowns normally I just used eso plus. if you like quests or just some pve challenges it is a good DLC

Had wave lags yesterday, too. Still was a decent 500k run. I don't see your point OP .

It ain't just MA. I was farming Forgotten Crypts and I couldn't do *** for 5 minutes because latency was 999+ ping, stuff wasn't loading, black figures for people... I hope this maintenance fixes it. I'd totally be ok with a 10 hour maintenance if it fixes this absurd lag.
