Until now I´ve played as "healbot" in smallscale to earn AP. Even though it´s fun I would like to have some option when going solo. What I´m after is a build (mostly need help gearwise) that can work solo and that have some good offence potential combined with decent survivability. I´ve been thinking going 5 Soulshine 5 Spinner and Valkyn/Grothdar. What are you people using on you templar that works right now??

If your hvy passives are done, Mage guild done, & undaunted maxed, look at trainee 5 pc with 5 whatever set and a monster set. It's great having the tri stat boost

I have been running 5 trainee 5 spinner 2 grothdarr or skoria, but I wouldn't go that route due to the latest PTS notes. Apparently this build was "OP" due to trainee, but it is being nerfed to the point that it will be unusable.

I do 5 VD 5 Julianos and 2 Velidreth in PVP and 3 Willpower, 2 VD, 5 Julianos and 2 Velindreth in PVE. I'll be replacing Velidreth with Grothdar eventually but it still gets the job done.

The 2 piece spell power bonus on VD is easily overlooked.

It's viable, but it's not easy to play while solo or in small groups. I will say that a lot of the more experienced templars are still running light armor.

Diclamer: I'm disregarding sets that are gonna be trash next patch

Basically, you have 3 choices for damage sets. Soulshine is almost a must, sharpened swords are easy AF to drop too and then you wear chest, legs, and X armor piece. Soulshine outperforms all heavy armor options for damage on a magplar. After that you have to consider either BSW or Spinners depending on what skills you're running. IIRC BSW outperforms Spinners for sustained damage at ~61% uptime(has 75% max uptime) and it gives much more overall burst and the spell damage boosts your HoTs and burst healing, whereas spinner doesn't give you that.

Once you've made your choice between spinners or bsw you're on to monster helm. For me, I think for Magplar your best bet is going to be slimecraw. Honorable mention to Bloodspawn.

I'm almost certain malubeth is gonna be trash for open world pvp next patch. No crit heals and no crazy healing buff stacking, this set lost its appeal. Unfortunately I just don't see too many options for magplar in 2pc sets next patch. Troll king is inefficient because vamp is necessary. Skoria/groth nerfs are self explanatory. I'm not even sure what to consider running besides 2 slime or 2 BS. I mean, rkugmaz for stam regen? EG, even though that health proc is 100% useless? Iceheart?

I've been looking at slime craw too, but I'm not sure the flat damage increase will beat a 4-6k skoria proc every 5 seconds. Definitely worth some testing though.

I haven't tried out burning spell weave yet, but is reflective light a large enough source of fire damage to keep BSW procced in pvp?

    Thief stone, witchmother's food

For Magplar PVP I am currently working on this set, just need a BSW Necklace. Gave up on Weapons but with the dual wield soulshine swords I can wear 2 BSW light body and 3 Jewelry, along with 3 Soulshine body and 2 Heavy Monster peices making 5H/2L. I made a sharpened Fire staff with a fire enchant (I hear that helps proc BSW).

I was still considering using Skoria as I like to use ranged attacks (dont even slot sweeps sadly). Given the nerf I may look into Slimecraw.

I tested this morning on some elites in Grothgar and I hit an elite Mammoth for a 45k Dark Flare, solo self buffed with entropy and the BSW proc.....I was VERY impressed considering I was wearing all impen and I had never seen my Dark Flare hit for more than 35k before that!

Just think twice about using retribution. People that use it fold hard against decent fasalla/reverb builds.

There are times where I have to hit extended ritual twice to purify off all the negative effects. I wouldn't go near ritual of retribution for pvp.

    True.

But retribution used with blazing spear is great for fighting high mobility builds or stamblades. Or if you run skoria. Still prefer extended. Maybe retribution for pve.

Yes you can but its a pain to cast every 12 seconds not to mention you need cast on an enemy. A lot of mageplars like it but its not for everyone. I would recommend it though.

The major sorc buff lasts for 20 seconds not 12. Still a pain the you have to cast it on other players though...

    Personally I like (azura non-cp) 5kag, 5 lich (jewels + offbar), 2 magnus, 2 bloodspawn

    5HA, 2LA

With kags you can pick armor traits easy peasy. Personally I went 2 divines, 3 impen, 2 sturdy (3sturdy with shield).
