Best Resto Staff Skill to use for back bar self heals in PvP

I'm leveling up Resto on my Mag DK to provide myself with some back bar self healing for PvP.

What do you think is the best Resto staff skill(s) to use for this purpose?

I've noticed some people using Healing Ward, but I'm leaning toward Rapid Regeneration.

Or is there a better option? Seems like both of those skills have a chance to target an ally or allies instead of yourself, so unless you're doing solo PvP it's not a guaranteed self heal--Rapid Regen being the one more likely to self heal out of the two. Is that accurate or am I misreading the skill descriptions?

Thanks

Healing ward all the way. Regeneration's targeting is atrocious, far worse than healing ward's, because you cannot predict where it will go next. It may never hit a target when there are more than 2 to chose from. Healing ward, on the other hand, correctly targets the lowest health player nearby. If it fits your playstyle like it fits mine, that will be you almost every time you need it.

In addition to all that, healing ward can save your life. Regeneration won't, at best mutagen will save you from the odd sorc execute once in a long while.
The generally amicable yet sporadically salty magplar that may or may not have 1vXed you in Sotha Sil. Who knows?

Rapid regeneration is a solid skill in PvE or PvP group play, but you have to remember that battle spirit halves any healing done. This leads to HoTs being too slow to overcome the incoming damage, as in most cases your opponents will be built to deal as much damage as they can in the shortest time possible. This makes healing ward the choice ability for many players due to the capability to reactively put up a shield (that increases in strength as your health diminishes) that allows you time to react while also providing a potentially very strong heal once it expires. That said, be prepared to be annoyed when your shield inevitably gets taken by an ally who happens to be in range AND have lower health than you

Mag DK? Healing ward (huge shield at low health mistargets only if someone is damaged more severily then you) and may be igni shield (especcially if you have lots of base HP). If you want to help with healing for group - igni shield+healing springs.

Healing Ward, though it is buggy as hell and doesn't work 20% of the time.
