Feedback on purchasing furniture (Achievement Furnishing, Furniture Merchants)

I didn't see a feedback thread for buying furniture so I'll start my own. I found this process really confusing because the merchants are scattered around everywhere. I guess since we have to go to 50 guild stores to find what we're looking for, this makes some kind of sense with respect to buying things in ESO, but surely a one-stop furniture shop would be much more convenient for someone wanting to decorate their home? At the least, having those merchants marked on my map in each respective city would be very useful.
Once I finally found the merchants, I discovered that unlike the crown furnishings, I am expected to throw gold blindly at pieces just by their name alone. For the items I purchased from the Rawl'kha vendor, there are no preview icons or anything to let you see what you're getting other than a name. Half the items show a workbench icon. My large shade tree looked nothing like that workbench.
The achievement furnishings do have tiny icons, though no indication of size. The boat for master fisherman is probably bigger than half the homes, and I assume a lot of the other pieces are equally as impressive. Finding the vendors all over all the places I may have earned achievements in the nearly 2 years I've played this game could actually occupy the next 2 years, since these vendors also didn't show up on my map.
So, anyway, once I finally tracked down the achievement vendor in Cyrodiil, I was pretty happy to find a throne especially for those who have the Emperor achievement. However, it's 250K AP, and honestly, I've used that character for endgame PVE for at least a year now and she's probably the one character I don't have that much AP on (having long ago spent that AP on Akaviri motifs). So, do I respec into a PVP build and earn the AP so I can buy the throne? And then do it again since now I have to run ALL the trials and dungeons again in order to get those decorative goodies too? That seems...more like a chore than a reward honestly. Why can't we just share AP like Tel Var already?
I saw the Aldmeri hero banners in the Cyrodiil store, but that character has also earned Pact Hero, Covenant Hero and Tamriel Hero. Are the achievements for the other factions not available to my character since I can't access their Cyrodiil vendors? I don't particularly want to decorate my homes with the other faction banners, but I'd imagine quite a few role players with characters across alliances might not be so happy to find they have to do all the quests on characters in their home alliances in order to access the banners for those factiions. And where would the Tamriel Hero banners be? It's just confusing.
