Lag and it's impact on DPS

Playing out of Australia and over a less than average internet connection, my ping is ****. I average 350-400ms.
I feel like this is impacting my DPS, which is normally around 17-18k single target, no group buffs.
While weaving light attacks sometimes they don’t fire, weapon swaps don’t respond or respond late after I click a second time causing a delayed double weapon swap, and some skills just don’t go off if I give commands too quick.

Do I just need to deal with it and get good, or am I really getting stuffed around by bad lag?

Surely the lag is responsible partly for my low dps?
On some magical nights when the stars align and the internet gods smile upon me, my ping drops to a lightning 250ms.
And just like magic my DPS climbs to 22-25k.
Neither are record breaking numbers but every time my ping drops my damage increases.

Its really annoying as I don’t see anything I can do to fix it.
Anyone have any words of wisdom, or similar issues?

Haha, I've had kangaroo, not sure if the meat was from the tail or not. Does it still count?

Same situation although I play from South Africa on the EU server. My lag is between 280 ms and 350 ms with random spikes sometimes of up to 800 ms for a couple of seconds.

It most definitely effects DPS. Apart from moving to the EU is there anything reasonable I can do? No.

I however always ensure that I am buffed properly with consumables. Every piece of gear is optimized and enchanted. I know the dungeons and trails mechanics very well (by watching YouTube videos before queuing for one). I stay out of the red and block when necessary. Doing these things right get me invited to lots of other groups.

So although DPS is important, it is far from the only factor in determining the smoothness of a run.

Yeah agreed. My lag hasn't stopped me from completing vet dungeons or soloing normal ones. I've just had to compensate by paying close attention to mechanics and having a solid rotation and build.
Still, very aggravating to be killed while standing out of red or by invisible attacks (especially in vMA).

Try http://battleping.com/ what I use, averages around 240-300 or so in vMA/raids

ofc 400 ms would affect your dps a lot 400 ms means almost half second delay your AC weaving would messed up

I play from South Africa too and this is pretty much what I do as well. It's kinda hard though but I learned to adapt. I will probably never get Flawless Conquerer in vMA because I always have huge lagspikes there -_-

the sad thing about Battleping is that during the free trial you get disconnected every 30mins (as answered by their support, instead of 20min on the website) and this means you WILL get booted out of the game
