They're doing it at 4:00 AM EST, this is more than likely the time with the least amount of players on so it makes sense to do maintenance now

Scheduled maintenance sounds like a good idea. Like 3-4 am on a Wednesday. Then we can all plan accordingly, and not have a random "Hey, servers are going down. Tell the sun I said Wassup!?"

It depends on what's being done. If it's just basic maintenance, probably not terribly long. But if they're doing any sort of actual game update, odds are it'll take longer. The type of work being done is generally specified.

It's 6pm for me, an inconvenient time sure, but it's advertised here on the forums and is pretty much this time everytime. Just need to plan around it.
Maintenance has to happen at some point and now effects the least amount people while still suiting ZOS.

It's late at nigh/early morning in NA and early morning/noon in EU. Few people would be playing at those hours, so disruption is minimal.
