because it's boring. At least when you catch something irl, you have the satisfaction that you are gonna eat it later, in game, it's just a waste of time in my opinion, and it doesn't make a lot of money

It feels like a complete mind-numbing waste of time. The only reason I would bother is for the achievement and it's very low on the priority list. I assume that anyone with the Master Angler title has to be some kind of masochist.

I have six Master Anglers and I am no masochist. I find fishing to be relaxing and enjoyable after a day of slaying monsters, running dungeons, etc.

Spend an hour in the kennel. You need to have around 100 fish in your inventory.
If that doesn't work, do the maths; it's actually more time-effective to buy it.

I've been going for Master Angler and last time I had multiple stacks of each type of fish in my inventory I refined them all and got Perfect Roe at a rate of 1.9%

I like fishing, but I do agree that it’s tedious and not rewarding. I do the turn-up-the-ambient-sound thing and I truly enjoy the beautiful surroundings. Fishing is peaceful and relaxing...but even so, there’s a limit on how much of that I need

I would love to finish the achievement, and I do want that boat, but it seems like such a distant goal that I doubt I’ll ever accomplish it.

Depends, one rare fish at a time and then do something else - then it is relaxing.

It's boring, and I actually have to look for places to fish after every few casts. If it was possible to just fish anywhere where there is water, I would do it more, even if the chance of getting something useful was lowered.

Why not just look around and use filler time for fishing - like I was slaying Haj Mota in Hew's Bane - there are just about 3 in a certain spot - and after they respawned 3 times in a short amount of time, there is a time gap - I look for a fishing spot there to fish until the haj mota show up again for example. Same on the bitter coast with Dreugh - I fish until they respawn, harvest my dreugh wax from them, and then I fish a bit again until they show up again.

Actually have a Fishing guild (Fisherman's Friend) since day 1, to bad fishing as whole isn't expanded more.

I never found it "fun". without an expensive pole to do damage you couldn't land a fish. And then you have to hit the right button depending on the icon that flashes for a few seconds. Horrendous pain to do.

I like to fish in ESO as taking a break between missions. Half the time I go to take a break and there are no fish spots active.

Pointless and boring as hell.. Perfect roe are far too limited to stand around all day fishing..

If we could fish up dungeon gear i'd be the first one fishing..

There are now so many of these endless-grind activities that there is no actual fun left in doing anything.

The ZOS executive responsible for this approach should be fired.
Unless of course, the goal is to alienate players. In that case, pay them their bonus.

Fishing is dreadfully boring, takes way too long to earn anything and rewards are just so not worth it.

Only exception to this is the Artaeum gold recipe but I nearly died of boredom before I eventually bagged it.

Some players do of course enjoy it but seems like the fishing mechanic is merely a placebo that was implemented just so the game could state it has fishing in it.

There are so many ways fishing could be made more rewarding and actually fun:

Rare fish should be worth much much more - in the time it takes to catch a few I can easily earn 10k+ farming any dungeon or grind spot yet they are only worth a few hundred gold.

More rare recipes and other commodities could be added to drops. Make a few unique. Make a few extremely valuable.

Make it slightly competitive - for example maximum 4, 6 or 8 players per fishing hole.

etc etc..

There is a food recipe you can make to increase the achievement fish drop rate, as a solo fisher now Master Angler on multiple chars, it helps immensely.

Speak for yourselves, I love fishing in this game!!

In my guild, We get fishing groups together often and we pick a zone and run it for the duration of a Hissimir drink. Even without a group, If nothing is going on ill turn on some Netflix and watch tv while im fishing.

I have also caught EVERY fish in the game, DLC zones included. Im a completionist, I like to get all achievements in each zone.

Its only boring if you make it boring!

Because the eso crafting/decon actions are so clunky. I mean who wants to button smash for an hour to skin fish? Also, roe rarity is stupid low for the amount of work you have to put in to it.

I don't play games to go fake fishing, I want action. yes I do love to fish, but on a nice warm day, on a small boad and a cold case of beer to keep me company while I relax and enjoy the moment. *** this fake ***, they could give out 100 trans stones per day for just catching one fish and I'd still say *** fishing

I'm not being negative, but it's just boring. I find the chase of rare fish interesting, but the mini-game of fishing is dull. I can stand to do it about as long as fishing out a couple holes takes.
