The security is ridiculous, especially for the website. Constantly getting asked for my Birthday for just accessing the website, (ya ya cookies i get it ), access codes are also overly used. And please give me an option for the launcher to remember passwords.

Nothing you mentioned negatively impacts security.

    1. Birthday: This is just an age gate, it isn't saved or stored anywhere. Feel free to lie (it's what I do). It'd be nice if it was saved longer, but this doesn't impact website security at all.
    2. Access codes: Part of a multi-factor auth scheme where you not only need to know the password but also have access to an email account. It isn't true multi-factor auth in that it is ultimately still just one factor (2 things you know -- account password and email password -- instead of just 1 thing you know), but it still makes it more difficult for people to hack into your account even if they know your account password because they need to go through the extra step of breaking into your email as well. Overall, it is a positive for account security.
    3. Remembering passwords: Adding the option reduces account security in exchange for increased convenience. It's probably fine for private computers though, so I'm ambivalent as to whether or not they should add it -- likely won't impact things one way or the other in terms of account break-ins.

Asking your age to see the website I have to agree is not needed. I don't see anything on the website that a young person shouldn't.
Does anyone put their real birthdate in?
I always put 1, 1, 1900. I'm sure underage people do the same which makes it even more pointless. I guess there is some silly legal requirement.

I have noticed that ESO has a lot less stolen accounts than other MMOs. The extra security probably helps.

It's one of those things where writing a law for every specific case is too hard, so they make a general rule that can cover everything. In this case I think that you need an age gate for games rated for older people, even if there's nothing inappropriate (I never can spell that right t_t). It's like how social media will require you to give your Date of birth because there could be things on there that a young child shouldn't see, even if they never do see it. I forgot what I was writing o_o
