Akaviri Dragonguard Rings: Legendary vs Epic (opinions needed!)

So, the "Golden Vendor" is selling Legendary Akaviri Dragonguard rings this week.

I don't understand. Why would you pay 500k AP/250k Gold for a legendary Akaviri Dragonguard ring? The boost from Epic to Legendary is somewhat negligble.

Purple Quality: Gold Quality: Difference:
157 health recovery (enchant) 169 (You're not keeping this enchantment)
924 health (trait) 957 33 points of health
124 magicka recovery 129 5 points of recovery
4% healing taken SAME NOTHING
1027 max health 1064 43 points of health
15% reduced ultimate cost SAME NOTHING

So, if you buy a pair, you just spent 1,000,000 AP or 500,000 gold on 76 points of health and 5 points of magicka recovery...

Is that really worth it? I'm honestly asking- I might be missing something.

No, it's more for people who want to max every possible thing or have so much ap they have nothing else to spend it on. I would rather put to gold towards my constant theory crafting. My 2c.

If you have a lot of money and you want to truly min max then yea I guess it would be. For a min maxer its worth it for someone who is ok with not having the slight upgrade it is not. Each individuals choice. Remember that Max HP and Magicka recovery of even a small bonus like that will be slightly larger still by any percentage buff the person might have. So again, to each their own.

I hear ya! There have been some nice rings & necklaces in the golden vendor before but that price just puts me off. I guess it's only for trader guild leaders & emperors to afford.

Not only is the jump from purple to gold fairly small... but there is always a chance that next update the set might not be so good anymore... or a better set might make an appearance.

    @Calboy

Thanks. I feel like I'm on crazy pills when I see these things. People spend A MILLION AP on 76 points of health???? How is 76 points going to save you? How is hopping from 1500 to 1505 magicka recovery going to make a difference?!?!

    That's 1,000,000 AP bud!

I could understand if the difference between legendary and epic was about 1,000 health and 100 recovery.. ya know?

Yup, these sorts of games attract a group of people that need to have everything absolutely maxed. Fortunately the only thing that really REALLY needs to be maxed in this game are the weapons. Even some of the set bonuses like you say don't change which I secretly love.

This allows me go gold a bunch of weapons and then I can switch between all sorts of gear combos and still be competitive.

Honestly I've been saying this for a long time. The cost to upgrade/buy gold quality is absolutely insane compared to the payoff. ESPECIALLY with armor.

Weapons are a big deal, that's fine, I get that. There's a significant gap between purple and gold weapons. Armor, and the set bonuses... almost nothing.

With Jewlery... The best I can figure is that I /think/ it affects the enchantment level/effectiveness somehow, but even then, while that's a a little more important than the set bonuses which are negligible as you pointed out, it's still very minuscule and I can't fathom why people would blow that much on that minor of an upgrade.
With that same amount of gold/AP I could buy like, another 5 sets and have options, try out new things, have fun, etc.

The ONLY other thing I can think of is the achievement for wearing all gold quality, but I seriously doubt that's what people are going for since I've never heard it mentioned even once.

Gold should always have increaed last bonus with noticable difference i.e. for dragon ultimate cost reduction should be 16%

I bought two Gold CP160 Dragon Rings.

They look awesome in my inventory and perform perfectly.

I'm happy with my purchase :)

Having most or all gold gear also increases the stat buff from equipment stars when in a dungeon. From what I know from testing and guildy reports (haven't seen any documentation, but also haven't really looked for it) you can get a weapon/spell damage buff of around or over 500 in dungeon content at the 5 gold stars. Which I'm assuming is all gold gear.

You get 25% more spell/wepdmg for using the lfg-tool. The equipment-bonus just shows how good/bad your itemlevel/quality is compared to your level. It does nothing at all when you're above 160CP.

Eh, I was pretty sure it was tied to equipment rating, but I could be way off. I've had group members in yellow gear and higher stars that showed a pretty decent jump in weapon damage, than my all purple + gold weapons.

I'll admit if I'm wrong that would explain why it's not more prominent.

I bought 2 rings and neck last week for 100k each in a guild trader. They still exist from the old trial drops btw. Don't overpay just yet. Shop around.

Nah, I have all gold gear and either purple spriggan jewellery or agility jewellery and I got 5 gold stars. All other gear is legendary
