A Few Character Creation Suggestions

BlackWormDisciple
Well, it seems like I've got bit by the bug of wanting to share a few ideas - this time regarding character creation options and improvements for the character creation process as a whole....

I'll try to keep things short, just because I'm sure this has been preached to death, but those of us who happen to have an eye for aesthetics can get annoyed by this and would like to see improvements made one way or another. First thing's first - the issues.

So, a lot of options are nice for a variety of races - Bretons, Redguards, Argonians, Khajiit, and most Nords and Bosmer look good - however, there are issues with the other races regarding character creation options - issues that are not present for many NPCs and show they have options that players lack, which make no sense at all. These problems in question are such things as Imperial and Orsimer skin tone - the former is an issue where NPCs walk around with fair and pale skin-tones alike, while players are limited to only olive complexions as the palest. They are a race that's as diverse as their people, so it seems odd to limit them like this just for the sake of making identification methods to show the difference between a Breton and an Imperial of either Colovian or Nibenese blood. Orcs, however, as a whole in this game, lack any truly green complexions. Throughout each Elder Scrolls game, they have green complexions rather than sickly gray-green types of skin tones, just like how Imperials could be as pale as a Nord or Breton to nearly as dark as a Redguard with all manner of facial features. And of course, as many have mentioned before me, High Elf/Altmer hair colors are limited compared to that of NPCs of the same race... black/dark hair is possible for this race - uncommon, maybe, but very much possible, yet players cannot access those darker colors. And of course, Nords lack black hair while in previous games they've had such colors, in addition to darker eye colors as well - and I remember correct, there are least that have such colors that players lack as a whole for that race.

Now, ways to resolve some of the issues. One thing would be to expand the options for each race as a whole in terms of eye, skin, and hair color - lighter colors for races such as Dunmer and darker options for Altmer and Nords regarding hair, and fairer complexions for Imperials as an example. Another example - adjust Imperial skin tones to resemble that of the Wood Elves - who typically are a race of Mer that have either tanned or light brown complexions rather than fair and pale, human-esque skin tones. That way one could have Imperial characters who could be, as the race is described as, as light as Bretons and Nords are or almost as swarthy as a Redguard from Hammerfell, just like the likes of Abnur Tharn and the rest of that Nibenese family. In addition, including other lore-friendly complexions and hair colors for players that NPCs possess while those who play the game lack would appease those who take pride in creating a character as the current restrictions would be reduced and allow them to make a character they could be proud of.

And even if you'd rather not make adjustments of this nature into the main game, if you truly feel a need to, you could at least offer addition options with a one-time Crown purchase.... Not as reasonable an option, but one that would still be better than simply having restrictions for aesthetics in place. Hopefully, Zenimax, you consider something like this.

I also want my argonian to have white/grey hair, but that won't happen.
While I agree, I must say, if this is possible, then argonians should get a better large house than what we've been given so far. But I fear that's not going to happen. Oh well, maybe it's for the better. I mean, orcs have to stay the ugliest race, right?

Orcs are far from pretty, sure, but even then they should be allowed to have a skintone associated with their people as a whole, right?

It may seem unlikely to have these suggestions occur, I'll admit, but even then it would appease those of us who pay attention to even the tiniest of details. The fact many NPCs of various races have these options that players as a whole lack makes so little sense. And regarding the housing, who knows what we will expect.

About being pale, all races can achieve that, it is one bite away.
I feel like Nords should have a bit more height if possible, just standing next to Lyris make me feel weak, unmanly and I have inferiority complex because of her.

Lyris is a bit different compared to the typical Nord - in her veins is the blood of Giants, which makes her bigger and stronger compared to the typical Nord lass.

As for being pale being possible for all races... every race technically has 'pale' complexions, but what I'm referring to are skin tones for the Imperial race for players that only NPCs have access to. They're a race that has members that are pale and fair like Bretons and Nords, to being tanned or even almost dark like a Redguard. Players, however, can only be olive-skinned at the lightest. Either left-most skintone option for them is far darker than the left-most options of a player-made Breton character, yet a number of Imperial NPCs can have those Breton complexions, as well as many Imperial characters in the previous games. The race may be based off the ancient Romans, but the Roman people were diverse - as are the Imperials of Cyrodiil.
