Before moving on to other games. I love it (when I'm not crashing) and was just curious how much gameplay ya'll hope for. I was thinking maybe another year or two at best.

    How long have Blizzard been developing for WoW? I would imagine that ZOS will keep going until they exhaust all content the game could possibly have

    The proper answer is as long as it's profitable, as with any business.

    This.

    Some games just go a few years, some go on and on...and on, like Everquest. There is plenty to do and plenty of map left.

    It's not actually.

    ESO is in the extremely unusual position of:

    a) being owned by a gaming company with several other incredibly popular and financially successful games;
    b) belonging to the same as IP as one of those really successful games.

    Because of those, ESO is almost guaranteed to be kept online regardless of how profitable it is and it's possible it hasn't been profitable at all. It is vast and very polished (though includes several silly design decisions) so would have cost a fortune to make.

    ESO being taken offline or ceasing development would send a clear message that it has failed and that could have a negative impact on the IP. As MMOs go, it's probably the safest bet of them all for a player to invest time and money in.
