What happens if I buy ESO: Gold Edition from Steam if I bought the original copy from ESO's website?

Since Steam is selling the game at 40% off I'd like to purchase the Gold Edition of the game so I can actually run it through my Steam account (I prefer playing games on that platform). When the game first released I purchased it through the ESO website and downloaded it as its own client.

If I were to purchase the game through Steam can I simply log into my normal account and the Gold Edition works fine? Or will there be confliction issues?

Thanks

    Hi there!

I had the same idea as you! =)

Sadly, the new steam account will be a stand alone and not connected to your current one.

You can not log in through steam with your game license that you bought outside steam.
The steam gold edition you buy now, will have all the steam achivements etc, just like any normal steam game. But it will be a "new" account. Your current ESO game account is different and can not be linked to steam other then just a shortcut.

    Thanks for the quick response!

Just to clarify, would I need to create a new account with a new email address then? I plan on starting with a new character so I'm not in need of keeping my old save data. It would however be quite inconvenient having to use another email since I have a single email address I use for near enough everything.

"Copy the Key" before you connect it with steam then you can use it with original account. Now the question is will buying to versions of the game one account make it so you have both content in game. Someone could answer this... then forget about the great elk. This could make Christmas white again.

Actually if the knowledge base is correct you can connect your existing account to your steam purchased ESO Client:

    https://help.elderscrollsonline.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/36520/kw/steam
max level: mDK, stamBlade, stamSorc, magPlar, mDen, stamDen, magBlade, stamCro
    ESO+
    # of mules: 4 (FULL)
    maxed bank: FULL -_-
Stop the grind! Get rid of stupid events and daily-quest gallore. Get rid of "have a chance of 1 in a million to get a piece of 1 in 30 to get a stupid motif or pet... wtf..."
And at this point just remove all classes and have everyone choose their set of skills. then balance accordingly to skills always used vs. skills never used.

Yeah, people have been saying that this indeed works. If you buy a new copy of ESO on Steam, you can link you existing ESO account to it using the steps in the support article.

Keep in mind that linking an existing account to Steam is a one-way trip. Make sure that this is what you want to do.
