Nord, magicka templar, frost based(cause nords like ice lol).

Destro/dw 5 light, 2 heavy

That would be a casual fun "dps" build but do you think should I go hybrid dps/tank with s&b?

Think is I wanna use ice skills(yes I know eso is bad regarding this) and wanted a nord cause my main was one but I changed it to redguard time ago. But at the same time Im not sure how to make use of the nords passives with my idea.

    Sounds like my Gyda :P

But with destro/destro, because unfortunately Ice Staves are the only source of ice spells in the game other than the Mages Guild ultimate. Also she is a sorcerer, I forgot to mention it.

Don't stress over it. Ice builds are for fun and sometimes to be annoying on PvP, but not for end game content.

Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

Exactly...just to have fun...U know I miss that. All about endgame builds ends up getting boring and more playing since beta.

I say go for it. Have fun because this is a game after all.

I used to be a dingleberry who always worried about being the most Uber player ever, then I took an arrow to my competitiveness and realized I had way more fun not listening to all the end game streamers and whatnot.

I have a Nord like that and she's much more fun than the "proper" builds for classes I've done. Less incoming damage is never a bad thing anyway!
    May all beings have happiness
May they be free from suffering
May they find the joy that has never known suffering
May they be free from attachment and hatred

Why templar though?I mean, templar skills are light/fire based.
Maybe take a look at sorc ice builds? They're niche, but they could work for you if you want a themed build. Plus, lightning+ice would look cool. :)

I have a Nord magicka sorc I'll be working on, with frost staff too.

Do whatever sounds fun to you, and keep doing it as long as it remains fun.

Racial passives are a crutch anyway. Benefit from them where you can and gear appropriately to get what you need done.

Stormproof: Vibeke - 50 EP mDragonknight | Savi Dreloth - 50 EP Magsorc | Sadi Dreloth - 50 EP Magblade | Sigtric Stormaxe - 50 EP Stamsorc | Valora Dreloth - 50 EP Magplar | Sigtric the Unbearable 50 EP Stam Warden
Scrub: Chews-on-Beavers - 50 EP DK Tank | Vera the Wild - 50 EP magicka Warden | Sigtric the Axe - 50 EP Dragonknight Crafter | Sigtric the Blade - 50 EP Lost Nightblade | Sigtric the Savage - 50 EP magicka Templar | Vibeka Shadowblade - 50 Ep Stealthy Ganky Nightblade |

if that is what you want to do... do it.

    if it works... great!

    if it doesn't work... great!

    either way you learned something.

I made this build for my 11th character. Nord magicka/health templar sword and board. She's using Cyrodiil's Light and Soulshine and that new dinosaur head Undaunted set at the moment, rather than the Ysgramor stuff.

    Rngesusbeamer_in_Eyevea.png

She's wearing her New Life Festival outfit for giving out gifts and the Happy personality as it makes her look especially derpy.

Since everyone is posting their cryomancers, here's my Gyda:

The cold never bothered her anyway!

I think templar fits more with nord. I already have 1 mag sorc Altmer that I like a lot but dont want more sorcs at the moment. My chars are:

    Redguard stam dk
Redguard stam templar x 2( 1 male and 1 female)
    Dunmer magnb
    Redguard stamnb
    Altmer magsorc
    Altmer magplar
    Nord magplar

I will go destro/destro like Gyda haha

My magi sorc was using winterborn + ice furnace for a while, which did ok solo PVE. The slows and roots from ice staffs are really handy if you're solo'ing dungeons, but the damage was pretty low.

I swapped ice furnace for 4 transmutation and nerien'eth set and got a very decent damage increase. Made me sad, ice furnace is rubbish.

I plan a build with spinner+ysgramor or maybe spinner+mother sorrow or maybe ysgramor+spider cultist.

Not sure if I will use monster set with this build.

    Don't forget Ysgramor/Winterborn!

There's Iceheart for Undaunted but it's horrific, and prevents you from using an ice staff which is necessary to an ice build. Luckily, that one unique staff Ysgramor's Jakolar's Ice Staff is very common, and with a precise trait isn't so terrible.

Ah, yep, if you have one already then it makes sense. :)
And I agree about Winterborn set as a base. Since theres not much ice-based abilities, its proc would be very useful.

Gyda wears Ysgramor/Winterborn. I like it very much. The ice shard seems to proc very often when you are spamming Ice Staff skills. I actually think Winterborn should be considered the main set for an Ice Mage, and the other set is really up to you and what you can get your hands on.

I suggest getting Ysgramor jewelry and the Jakolar's Ice Staff, farming Winterborn in normal Maelstrom, which is much quicker than Veteran Maelstrom, and then getting the missing Ysgramor piece. I figured that's a really quick way to set up an Ice Mage, and since they are about fun, there is no reason to bang your head against the wall when getting the equipment. Wear a Monster piece with a first bonus you like, since you can't wear two Monster pieces with this set up (because you need to use the destruction staff, which only counts as one set piece).

I'm currently reluctant to improve my Jakolar's Ice Staves, though. I want a sharpened Ysgramor staves, but I can't for my life find a single one, let alone two.

We really need to hang out and make snow angels someday.

Also, as I've stated in the past, the Ice Staff Ultimate looks like a lovely snow globe and one morph freezes everything in place, which is really cool.

if you plan on using it in pvp. good luck youre playing hard mode with nord mag builds, in pve it doesnt matter.

i remember i mained a nord magDK since beta/launch race didnt seem to matter now it seems crucial especially for any mag builds.

nords give no frost damage bonus, i ran a frost templar nord it was unique but even then it was lacking.

have fun with it. try it out.
