The Elder Scrolls Franchise

Considering how rich and "thorough" the lore of Tamriel and the world of the Elder Scrolls is, I am very surprised to see the franchise have not embraced other media. I'm specifically referring to books. The Dungeons and Dragons franchise have a lot of novels, but I think I have only seen 2 novels for the Elder Scrolls, written by Greg Keyes. The franchise has been around since 1994, and I know there are other books focusing on the history and the lore, but only the 2 story books. Does anyone know the reason for this?
Also, instead of all the tv series we currently have focusing on vampires, banshees, werewolves etc, I honestly think the Elder Scrolls can be turned into a pretty awesome "Game of Thrones" - esque TV series.

✭✭✭✭I believe the reason is that they want to have control over the franchise and by extending to other media such as books, movies and TV, they lose that ability.
