Rng hates me opened up about 50 crates and not one storm mount came up. 
Ended up with 412 gems, so I got what I wanted but I warn you. Be prepared to spend a lot of $$$ on a rng system that is worse than vma arena. Other news Merry Christmas!

Someone can get it on the first try, others have to gather the gems for it because it never drops for them. Such is the nature of RNG. For a 100% chance of getting what you want for a set known price, only through direct purchase.
At least you could get the gems for it with only 50 crates, I suppose because you converted the consumables, right? ✭✭Wait for crown sales to stock up, never buy crowns when they are not on sale. Set a budget on what you want to spend (rl). Crown crates are a gable, nothing is for certain.

Let's look at the math, 150 real dollars to purchase one Red Fox Mount.
My own experience, spent 3,000 crowns (8 crates), converting all of my consumable items for 28 gems. I was also looking to get the Red Fox, but I'm only 1/4 of the way there. That translates to $25.00 spent on stuff I didn't want.

And salt in wounds, I'm sure, but I got a Storm Atronach Guar in crate 5. Rest of my 8 crates of loot hasn't been amazing or terrible, and I'm a long ways from buying another apex reward, but feels like a good progression.

threefarms✭✭✭ZOS probably could have made more money if they made the storm mounts cost a flat 5000 crowns, because people who won't open crates will buy straight up if they really want it. (Most everyone who opened crates spent at least that much just to get 1 storm mount). Just my opinion...6

✭I said it before and I will say it one more time. Anyone who bought crates via the Telvar vendor or Cyrodiil elite vender knew exactly what to expect purchasing the Crown Crates. You would get better odds gambling in Vegas than buying the Crown Crates. So to those of you who wasted $100 or $150 on the Crown Crates let it be a lesson for you. The Crown Crates are a money making scheme and a lot of players are falling for it.
Example: ZOS knows that when you don't get what you wanted after buying the first few crates you will buy more and more2
