Is Hurricane (Sorcerer skill) Considered a "Melee" Attack?

What is considered a "melee" attack is so confusing in this game.

It's physical damage. It can be "melee" or not depending on how close to your target you are (which doesn't matter).

EDIT: melee means close-range combat, like using swords, daggers, maces or axes, and skills with low range, such as Puncture, for example.

Typically if the range is greater than 7m it's not a melee attack for the consideration of procs, etc.

The reason I asked is because I was pretty sure I got hit by Viper the other day off Hurricane. I was really low health when an enemy with Hurricane popped out of stealth and the death recap only had Hurricane + Viper.

No, it is not, it is an area attack.

Viper is broken, proc on every attack range, melee, physical, desease, etc... and can be proc every 3 sec'

I'll need to test this out with some monster sets that only proc on melee attacks. And Viper is indeed broken. It's even been proccing on bow attacks that most certainly not melee.

Yeah, seems like viper prox on what ever the hell it likes not just melee attacks. Hopefully ZOS will either reword it to state that and increase the cooldown or rework it to just proc on light and heavy attacks.

Nah, if you use a slow animation skill like heavy attack viper procs even before the hit connects, especially when lag is at work
