Help me be a better Dragonknight?

I main a pretty decent StamBlade. I main a pretty decent MagPlar. I've even recently started maining a pretty decent MagSorc. But for the last year and a half I've been playing ESO I cannot get to grips with how you're supposed to succeed at playing a Dragonknight. All of it's class skills save for just two morphs are all Magicka based abilities, so obviously a MagKnight would be the way to go, but whenever I've tried to build a decent one my characters always come up short even with end game gear. And now I've decided I want to have my DK be a Stamina character, to at least make use of the Khajiit passives, and while I'm doing it, experiment with playing a Tank since all of my other characters are glass cannons.

Now prepare yourself for noob levels of awful stats, this is a giant heaping pile of a work in progress.

oxJwGCl.png

Khajiit
64 in Stamina
Mundus - Thief
DW Daggers / 1H&S
5 Medium / 2 Heavy, all CP160
5pc Song of Lamae
4pc Gladiators
3pc Agility (when I eventually get them)

DW Bar (currently)
Bloodthirst - Rending Slashes - Venomous Claw - Noxious Breath - (Empty, may put Vigor here once unlocked, or switch it out with Igneous Weapons)

1H&S Bar (currently)
Ransack - Low Slash - Venomous Claw - Immovable - Igneous Weapons

I haven't made any food for her yet and half of the gear is still missing glyphs cause I'm broke and can't craft. Two of the three class trees aren't at 50 yet, and 1H&S is only at 11 cause I haven't been using that tree until just now. I know I'll never be the world's best Tank, which is why I'm trying to go for a DPS/Tank hybrid. If you could, please provide me with advice on skills to use, as well as other tidbits on being a decently average StamKnight.

My DK nord tank runs a bow on the back bar but that is more for buffing and some ranged attack options.

If you can. take one of your dps to the Imperial City sewers (PvP) and earn some Tel Var stones so you can buy some gear there. I like running Black Rose.

As a tank build I don't worry about dealing a lot of damage thus I have the Lady mundus for the buff to physical resis.

Also, run at least 5 heavy, ideally 7 unless you really want that undaunted passive. I have 5 black rose 3 agility 2 endurance and a monster set that really buffs my resistances (Can't remember the name). Approx. 28-29k resis for physical and magic.

You can bank tel var stones and the gear is only bound to your account once equipped. So if you can't craft good heavy armor yet that might be an option to consider.

This for pve or pvp? Im confused

If its for pvp go s&b/2h

If it's pve are you wanting to be a full tank or a dps? Dungeon character or open world one?

I have every character level 50, both a magicka and stamina version.

I'm not a min/maxer, I make my characters for all around average use. Mainly Overworld PvE but can still at least do something in Dungeons and Cyrodiil. Since I'm more focused on being able to do PvE content such as all the questing and whatnot, that's what I aim to accomplish first in character builds.

Can my character do PvE Questing? Yes? Good enough.

I've tried using 2Handed before but it's just too bulky of a weapon type for me, even if it is harder hits, I could never get used to it. And when it comes to Dragonknights, are critical hits not very important?

My Magic DKs are the highest DPS characters I have. I think they are both Imperials, so their Race is not even helping them. I have one that is a Tank now, so his DPS is lowered, but he is unkillable so there is that.

Anyway, when you want to play a Magic DK let me know I can help you out with that. As for Stamina I tried and quickly went back to Magic as you found out, most DK skills are magic based. I know people who do it, but I can't make it work myself.
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

Ill take you up on that, trying to be a stamknight is just too much for too little for me, and i want to make use of more of the class skills. As of now my character is, upsettingly, back to being a MagKnight. Im more used to working with magicka classes, but my one gripe is that i have this unreasonable insistance on being a Dualwield MagKnight. Would using dual Swords benefit me? Such as the passive that increases damage done.

    @ArchMikem
pvp why you can go duel wield the last passive twin blade and blunt count for any Dmg. but the meadium attack weave with destro gives more dmg. as for gear you can get mats get some one to craft you jullionos(cloth is cheap right now) but best would be Burning spell weave with all divines.then run 3 pieces of magnus or turogs pact for head shoulders and weapons till you get volkian skoria
    DC PC NA
    Magdk - main
    Stamcro - alt

AD PS4 NA -retired (PC runs way better to play on console)
    magdk
    magblade
    stamplar
    magden

All stamina characters are the same really... Run black rose viper and your choice of monster set. Take noxious breath venemous claw pierce armor invasion and talons. Make your other bar your buff bar with volatile armir shuffle some sort of major brutality igneous shields and vigor. Take one bar with dragon leap and one bar with magma armor. This set up allows you to play pretty much any content outside of vet trials with ease

When discussing builds I find that the add-on My Build is useful because it gives you a lot of information on one sheet.

Once installed you just type /mybuild and it gives you a sheet with most of the important data. Here's an example - just an example, not a build I'd recommend necessarily.

    PvP%20Build%20Sword%20and%20Shield_zpssut0ydpa.png

These are unbuffed stats - no food or buffs from potions or active skills. It also does not take into account certain armor bonuses such as the extra damage Knight-Errant, in this example, gives one hand and shield abilities.

But the add-on is quite useful in my view for discussions such as these.

Follow this and you will have success.
