Is Sorcerer a RP pet loving class or does it have any real kick?

Getting jealous of players running around with their pet parades. Thinking of doing a summoner sorc. Could have asked in Player Help but I think it's going to be an opinionated answer rather than logic and figures. Remember I'm new not trolling. Is Pet Sorc worthy to pursue or more of a role playing show off?

It's a viable playstyle. PvE and PvP. But you'll have to learn to control them and it's not that easy at first (y+left or right click to attack/recall by default I think). Hard to play but definitely doable and strong once you get the hang of it.
Also in pve, they can take agro of mobs if you ever solo dungeons, makes everything easier. (watch Voah's WGT solo).

I use a Trinimac, Maw of the Infernal & Willpower pet build that allows me to solo most things in the game such as the Boss Skull encounters in Craglorn. To be sure there are a few trial based pet build as well like Thelon's Unholy Herdsmen.

But in general its super niche, most pet parade peeps are just using them to tank stuff.

I have fought a Summoner Sorc in PvP.

It's the most hilarious play-style I have seen yet.

Depends on what you want to do. They can be reasonable in open world pvp and are good enough to complete all solo content and group dungeons.
But if you aim for pve leaderboards, then you'll have a very hard time as a pet sorc.

Not so much when they win with their 55K max magicka stacked shields and pets.

How is the shadow rend monster set for the pet sorc types?

It's fun, but can also be viable. There are a few pet builds about if you do a search, Thelons etc. People have success in PvP and PvE. You just need to commit to the build (like any)

You see alpt of pets when leveling as sorcs unlock them early, so you kinda need to run them. Most then move on. I've rolled a new toon, as a healer due to the Twilight change and biff to argonians

Clannfear is a decent tank and personal healer for PVE, and annoys the hell out of people in PVP, even tho it won't win a fight for you.
Twilight is a great backup healer, and you can main heal with it and a resto staff.
Both at once is ridiculous, you should not do that. That's 1 extra skill on each bar you'd be wasting.
On any content where the pet's a liability, I change it out for Bound Armor or some other utility.

Most trivial but favorite part of a pet is to have it attack (Y+right-click) meat animals while I'm out gathering, and it doesn't count as "combat", locking me out of clicking on things for 5 seconds. Also fun to have it solo mobs for me while I'm fishing.

There's been times when I had to run to answer to door or something, and I thought I crouched in a safe spot, but I come back to find a few dead wolves around my and my Clannfear looking bored. It's nice having body guards. That being said, they do take a little more management, making sure they're summoned and shielded, and sometimes it's just easier to play without them.

The best thing about being a sorc, in my opinion, is the third hotbar you get from your Overload ultimate. No other class gets that.

    THIS ^^

Its an incredibly fun play style to do, its not the strongest however.

I run a Pet Sorc, and I am a PVPer only. Let me tell you to go here : https://forums.elderscrollsonline.com/en-GB/discussion/245479/the-daedric-shepherd-call-it-a-come-back-1t-ready/p1

Trinimac's armor is probably the best to go with, however I have recently switched to Dreamer's armor set. Its not incredibly good but if you have one of your pets set as a heal then it can save your life.

I have also run Syvarra's Scales which in my experience did better for me in the long run.

You will lack abilities to use however, and you will rely on your monster hlem in my case the giant dadrea, and your ultimates, the stone guy.

I have only three abilities I can use which is Dadric Curse, Bolt Lightning and Wall of elements (electric staff causes off balance)

I have my pets set as Twilight Tormentor, which is set to do more damage when Dadric curse is on a player, and the Clanfear is set as my personal healer.

The only problem I have with this build, is pets can not be controlled. It can be very difficult if your pets are no where to be seen and your fighting with a player.

My Character is set to play more a distraction, unbalancing, stunning and keeping yourself alive long enough for backup. (It works :)!)

Can you kill a player on your own with this build? Yes, but its not easy. This build is a commitment that takes much getting used to, but its worth it. I am only champ rank 389 so I have a while to go yet

Assuming your referring to magika sorc pets are not viable in any end game build but there are solid PvE build for the class though require heavy magika support.

Though I will say Sorcs Pete are fun.

I started of with a pet since I didn't know crap in my sorc, thought it was a nice distraction to my enemies while I was healing and stuff. Same with the storm atronach ultimate.

After you reach a high level you realise they get very limiting and obsolete. people with Rp quirks find them of sentimental value. I wouldn't mind actually having my twilight matriarch flying around me all the time, but I really can't count on her when I'm dying and could you the slot space for something I'm certain about.

But yes, I love my pets.
