There is something I don't get about PVP damage...

Today I did PVP with a sorc damager. Had 23k tooltip on Overload, mundus stone Thief. I lasted like 10 seconds or something.
But the thing is, my starting mitigation was 27k on both Physical and Spell resistance numbers. That would be about 40%. Probably during the match my Pariah pushed mitigation to full 50%. So I consider full mitigation achieved. I have no points in the Lady to cut down damage more. The hits were only 8k normal and 9k crit. That would indicate however just about 14-16k Overload tooltip. But my crit resistance is 1494. This means about 20 pts out of 50 pts crit damage. Therefore crits should have hit me like 15k: (23000*1.50-(23000*0.2))*0.5 = 14950. Where am I wrong ?

    23K tooltip = 11.5k PvP standard

    Assume full mitigation via armor (here what's his armor penetration rating?) = 5.75k dmg

    You say a crit so... 5.75 + 2.88 = 8.63k dmg

    I think you forgot battle spirit?

    Edit: Your high armor mitigation is lessening the effect of your crit resist, as is he's gaining less than 3k dmg from a crit. Meaning even with an uber high crit resistance you're only bringing down his attacks by around 800ish?

    Why is this "23K tooltip = 11.5k PvP standard" ? Where does it come from ?
    I don't know his armor penetration. And there was no battle spirit, we weren't in Cyrodiil. I have no Elemental Def/Hardy allocation.

    If you are fighting another player, in Cyrodiil or not, all damage is immediately reduced by 50%.

    People die fast enough in this game with half damage. Without Battle Spirit, almost every dual would be who hits first.

    Battle Spirit Buff:
    - Health increased by 5000
    - Range increased by 8m for abilities with 28m range or greater
    - Damage taken, healing received, and damage shield strength decreased by 50%

    This buff also applies in duels.

    Except the extra health part or does that happen?

    I know sorc pet where they can only take x amount of damage at once is or was not functioning in duels - last i checked they were working on it.

    There is something here... I don't agree with the calculation.
    First of all, it was like 8k normal and 9k crit... Enough to raise my eyebrow.
    And then,

    I would do it this way. First I would calculate how much of the crit is mitigated by the crit resistance, and cut it from the total damage. Then apply the mitigation numbers to the remaining damage. And then the reduction (which I don't have, from Ele Def/Hardy) to what's left.

    You have crit prevention, you say 20 of 50 or 40% of crit damage. So his 50% crit modifier becomes +30%. If it's 8000 normal, that's 2400 damage, which I believe is also reduced by your standard armor, which you say is 50%. That means that 2400 becomes 1200

    Aka a 8000 dmg attack becomes 9200 dmg when it critically strikes. Checks out to me, the thing about multiplication - order of operations don't matter.

    Edit: I'm also basing this damage solely based on the information provided that the normal strike damage is 8k, I am not aware if this 8k is pre mitigation or not etc

    I think 8k and 9k are final numbers, took them from the combat log.

    Remember, if you're in Cyrodill, you dont get ANY benefits from your CP. So those number crunchers calculating CP into the equation are incorrect.

    dueling grants you all the pvp buffs/debuffs regardless where you at.

    That's easy to test, I can see if the magicka cost changes.
