Vampire's Cloak set and damage reduction (PvE)

So I was planning on making my DK into a tank and saw the Vampire's Cloak set where the 5-piece set is take 8% less damage. Assuming I am at hard caps and have 50% mitigation from that, would that mean I am effectively at 58% damage reduction or would the set work after mitigations meaning I am only really taking 4% less damage? I'm sure there is a discussion out there on this but could not find it (didn't look very hard either).
Was thinking since this could stack with Nord Passive 6%(I think) and then an additional 8% from minor aegis affectively meaning that I would be taking 72% less damage if it stacked with the mitigations.

Mitigation from different sources stacks multiplicative. So 50% armour, 8% vampire's cloak and 6% nord would add to:
    1 - ( 1 - 0.5 ) * ( 1 - 0.08 ) * ( 1 - 0.06 ) = 56%

Wow.. that is far worse than I was expecting. So really even with all the stuff I was talking about I would only be getting about a 9% damage reduction. No point in trying to do that then when there are far more effective things to get. Heck, it feels like getting 1k more health would be better.

That's why you have to go big if you go dr. If I get hit with an aoe while cc'd and a skeleton I have 82.5% dr, 90% with bolstering darkness.

Yes, go big is great, if it lasts longer than 3 seconds. How often really are you going to have all CC with aoe, being a skeleton and have bolstering darkness up? It seems like it is not worth getting a five piece set just for roughly a 4% increase in Damage Reduction when so many more sets would be more beneficial.

That is an extreme situation to show what max dr can reach, I actually forgot the 25% from cp in those calculations. Basically most of the annoying attacks you have to deal with are aoe, leki drops it to the point where you can stand in anything and ignore it. 35% from reactive triggers on boss heavy attacks since they stagger, it procs off any cc which happens fairly often. Bone pirate has a nice duration and stacks with the above, basically you are looking at anything from 62% with nothing proc'd from direct attacks to 90%+, not sure what the hard cap is. That's all before blocking is calculated.
