I have to ask this, does the cipher actually drops? I know the dust does but the cipher? I saw ppl linking in chat or saying they sold...damn there is ever some MM entries so I can only wonder for an official answers since some ppl went on that is written in the patch but only the dust was implemented and not the cipher? can maybe a ZoS official confirm this to me/us? cuz so far I'm grinding like a madman since the mini-patch and I got none of the above...

Cipher drops from enemies, probably non-humanoid, since "monster" is pretty vague, while dust drops from resource nodes, the same way as nirncrux or cassiterite sand. But the drop rate is probably on the order of 1/100K. Farming for it is really not worth it.

Dust drop rate is incredibly rare. No one knows the average number of hundreds of nodes that must be farmed to get one.

Ciphers are probably more rare and require mass monster murder on an epic scale. This is really geared towards AoE farmers that can collect a following of adoring fans and then wipe them out quickly, rinse and repeat. I doubt that you will ever come across one while just out killing monsters as part of normal play.

I was planning on farming this and console is prepped. I spent 1m on buying 7 complete ambrosia recipes. And after reading all this I've ditched them all for 350k a pop. Seems like a right shambles of a farm. The time spent farming this you'd level up a toon to 50 in less time lol.

when I said farmed it... I meant grinding as grinding CP... with grinding gear and all so basically normal grinding for nothing but cipher alone...but thx for replies... il take a break from it now...

Kai said specifically (in German) that "monster" means anything that'll automatically aggro on you, including humanoids. This specifically excludes things like yellow outline folks or silver outline NPCs that you could aggro but wouldn't just by you being present.
