Gold Jewelry and Shields

Finding shields in the set I want with the traits I want seems to be harder than ever. I haven't seen any gold jewelry since the last update. I am assuming, I hope correctly, that the gold comes from Vet Trials? What about the drop rate for shields? Does anyone have the scoop on these two things?

    I have found shields for almost every set I've farmed for. I believe they are as common/uncommon as weapons. Just need a bit of luck.

    Finding weapons with the right trait (sharpened) is by far the most difficult thing to find.
