PS4 Free Play App Not Free

silverbluemoon
Hi there! So the Free Play Weekend email claims that the app for the PS4 should have been free in the PS Store as of 12am this morning, but it's still $10. Is this being looked into? Thank you!

Wait, the game normally sells for $10 on the PS Store?

I thought it was like $29 to $49 at most retail outlets. So, that begs the question, are you sure your looking at the base game and not a DLC Package?
Enjoy the game, life is what you really want to be worried about.

I actually don't know how much it is normally. I just meant "still" as in if it was supposed to change for the free-to-play weekend it hasn't yet.

I'm not sure if I picked the right one; there are many different choices. After scrolling through them, though, I picked the one that just says ESO Tamriel Unlimited and it is $9.95.

It's normally £49 in UK. Is there one that says "One Tamriel"? That $9.95 sounds like ESO Plus?

Really? Tesco sells it for £8 and you still get the explorers pack thrown in. tesco.com/direct/the-elder-scrolls-online-ps4/747-9325.prd?skuId=747-9325&fromRV=true__35&source=others

That's the one i bought and bought crowns the last time they went on sale, so got the entire thing for under £20 (everything and more that you get with the gold version), plus a mount with the left over crowns. Paid 80% face value for the PSN credit so paid well under the £20. Can't believe anyone would pay £50 for most of the games on PSN never mind for ESO.

PSN are terrible for prices, I agree.

It's currently £19.99 to download from the PSN store, you can pick the disk up for under £10 from shops.

So if you already have the disk, can you download the digital copy for free and transfer your account?

    Please say yes!!!

You do realize that the disc is installing the digital game. It's all the same but you'll need the DRM on the disc to play or DRM from the digital online to play. That's the only difference. You're just deciding which DRM to buy.

What I wanted was to not have to put the disk in to play ESO, so I can have my skyrim disk in instead..
Does that make sense? Will it be possible if I download the free digital version from PSN?

Buy the full game from the psn store. The weekend isn't going to resolve this longterm is what I mean to clarify. It may work over the weekend tho. I buy online games digitally always because they require the internet anyways so discs are pointless. This allows single player games to work off disc if I choose to sale later like I did with Skyrim.

On consoles you'll need the disk to play the game. You'll still have a pretty decent sized (I mean ridiculously large) download. On PC, where I bought the physical imperial edition I only had to put the disc in once, download the launcher and never used the disc again.

Picking up on the price posts earlier, ESO is only £6.60 for normal and £19.99 for Gold on Steam. Even if it's not the greatest game right now, for £7 it's worth a try.

If I've got the Gold Edition disc, and now want the digital version, do I have to buy the Gold Edition or will the normal/base suffice?
I ask because to get the DLCs from the Gold Edition, I just had to enter a code through PSN.

Okay. . . So my confusion is. . . How is that free to play then?

Ok, subscribers recieved an email yesterday stating that if we forward the email to friends and family, they could download the game for free and play for free until Nov. 20th. The problem is that when we do this, PSN does not have the gsme free, it has it for $9.89. So what the OP is asking is if anyone from ZEN/Bethesda/PSN has looked into this as it is a most definitely a glitch on PSN's part.
.... I have to admit, the devs do listen to reason, if not to the forums. Thank you for "nameplates", a welcome addition to immersion, as well as the text chat box for PS4, which only comes on the screen when I need it too, and helps this gameplay SO MUCH MORE then without it. THANK YOU for the additions. Very much appreciated.

I do believe the free to play version is under the section in the store "Free". It is considered a demo
