What's the point of being able to craft poison if it's useless?

If I set it in the weapon slot for poison I read my weapon has temp lost it's enchant/already-there-poison. So it switches it out. Ummm, that makes poison useless.

Poisons are pretty op for pvp, you can run a weapon damage enchant on one bar and a poison on the other and add a little bit of damage to your attacks plus constantly draining your opponent of resources. If you are using malestrom weapons you lose the effect but still get the passive bonus.

Not counting VMA weapons, poisons are far superior to any enchant. The trick is making the right ones. Not all poisons are good.

Yup, just the same as not all potions are good. In fact, some are just outright abysmal. Other than that, they quickly add up in your inventory and I usually make around 3k per day just selling the ones i pick up from bosses or mobs.

Thats the sign that your weapon enchantment needs to be charged.

Keep thinking that. Poisons useless.... lol. Pve I'd agree, pvp, they are the deciding factor in some battles. Hello resource cost poisons!!

Poison is far from useless and easier to get/change tab kuta enchants. At 16 per craft, using not hard to get mats, swap at will... imo not shabby unless you are drowning in kuta.

Persionally i think they should find the balance where you can have both, just slightly lower their effects so you ca have both.... I just hate that that 1 skill or the other becomes useless.

Don't poisons also proc more frequently than weapon enchants?

Most poisons are probably best for PVP, but poisons can definitely be worth using in PVE as well - just a smaller subset of them.

Heck, if nothing else they give you options. About to go into a boss fight where you know the boss is resistant to shock and you're rocking a shock enchant on your weapon? Equip a good poison instead!

The instant effect enchants have 4s cooldowns and proc on any light/hvy. The wpn dmg boost where the effect has a duration is like 10s cool I think.iirc they can proc on weapon skill but not guaranteed but I don't recall for sure.

Poisons proc chance is 20% with 10s cooldown on light/hvy and Iwpn skills but they last several seconds typically. I normally run one lasting 4.4s.

I agree fully on options. Imagine having a stamina abs ench, a health draan poison and a vulnerability poison.

Enchant for many cases, drain for when you want good hot, and vulnerable poison for groups so everybody does more to target and you expect healer support for health and stam.

Poisons give you lots more ability to setup for need on the fly.

It just means that the poison replaces the weapon's enchantment - until you run out of poison doses - then the enchant starts working again. It isn't useless - its just a choice of poison OR enchantment.

Poisons come into their own in pvp and are useful when combined with vMA weapons. The vMA weapons can take a poison without over-writing the spell/weapon damage portion of the enchant. So take the vMA destro staff as an example; the spell damage buff from the vMA destro is more than the spell damage buff from 1 piece kena. So as a 1 piece the vMA destro is superior to kena.

Wall of elements isn't as useful in pvp as it is in pve, so it makes sense to slot a poison on your vMA destro in pvp if you're not using wall of elements because you get to keep the spell damage buff from the staff. Not all posions can be considered op in pvp; I use vulnerability poisons which just increase the damage your target takes by 8% for 4 seconds, no resource draining. This acts like the damage buff you get from combat prayer and helps to boost burst damage during a fight. It can even be combined with combat prayer for a 16% damage buff against your opponent for 4s if timed right, but I chose to drop combat prayer when I started using these poisons.

I can't think of many situations in pve where you would prefer a posion over an enchant. Maybe if you were running sets that proc'd off the posion proc.

potion/poisen making is a horrible thing to do to try to sell to merchants craft a 3 ingredient poisen and sell the 16 for 80 gold? you lost on low worth mats alone 250g. average alch mats sell for 100-125 ea with high end ones like columbine 450-750 last i checked.
