Did they make purchases become bind on pickup?

I've got a piece of purchased armor in my inbox that says bind on pickup. Obviously, it didn't originally drop that way, or it couldn't have been listed for sale.

Bug? Intended? Anyone else have this happen to them?

Yes - the seller listed it before the change - so it becomes BoP when sold

Some item sets became BoP after One Tamriel. The seller acquired and listed it before the update, when it could still be sold, but when you pick it up now it becomes bound.

I'm pretty sure that the old BoE items that became BoP have completely different item codes. That means that if you buy a gold ring that was BoE pre-1T, it'll forever remain that way until somebody equips it.

I had Spiderstaff (Not Bind on Equip or Pickup - and not part of any set) up for sale 5 days before the change - didn't sell so came back to me as BoP (and now part of a set) - cannot sell as now Bound - yes in answer to your question

All BoE->BoP item sets were done using new item codes, so old BoE items will forever remain BoE.

There are two exceptions to this rule, however.

First, sometimes a BoP item will have accidentally made BoE. For example, a subset of MoL gear sets were BoE for a brief period. When they fixed that bug and they became BoP again, it was retroactive.

Second--and this is probably what you experienced--old named items (items that used to be non-set vendor/decon trash) were retrofitted to become set items. As a part of this retrofitting, if the item dropped from a dungeon, it became retroactively BoP. People could have listed these items for sale or deposited them into guild banks prior to OT.

It's a named item, which means that it was retroactively converted from BoE non-set to BoP set by the OT update.
