VO+Viper or Red Mountain or Crafted PvE

I'm trying to work around the stuff I have and what I can get easy for my toon. I have 2 VO rings and 3 armor. Viper Necklace, 4 armor, 2 sharpened Hundings daggers. I tried 5 VO 5 NMG, because my NMG is legendary, but the Viper seems better. On PS4 so, no way to get parse or really measure DPS.

It would be easy to start working on Red Mountain, but wonder if it's worth the effort?

Now all my drop pieces are purple other than weapons legendary. I could craft a few TBS pieces to complete a set and work on making it legendary as well.

I am thinking the Viper set is be better because the poison damage may be affected by mighty CP and red mountain fire is not. IDK?

I had the same thought about CP in relation to red mountains damage output, was told by knowledgeable folk that CP doesn't effect the proc damage. Worth a test though, people can be wrong.

I personally sided with viper, as I would rather do predictable, consistent damage output than have the potential for slightly higher numbers. Rather than bank on the 10% proc chance of RM...RM can proc every 2 seconds vs Vipers WILL proc every 4. All comes down to preference as usual :/

As for what to run...VO is absolutely wonderful in PVE(unless you managed to get a full impen set). Your stamina management woes will be a thing of the past. That 5/8% cost reduction(can't remember which) is VERY noticeable, and it's rather fun to zip around the room buzz sawing everything in sight! I normally pair VO with either hundigs or viper, beautifully nasty combinations :)

The only thing I could find that increased viper and red mountains tooltip was minor berserk. So sometimes I run around wearing Slimecraw when clearing easy dungeons.
I've tried both Viper and Red mountain, and honestly, I prefer red mountain.

    - It can proc every 2 seconds instead of 4
    - Works on skills like Volley, which have fast ticks
    - I don't need to have it on both bars. For example I can poison injection, flip to my dual wield bar (where red mountain is), and the poison injection dot can still proc red mountain.
    - I use a lot of weapon DoTs, so it procs often
    - It has a weapon damage bonus, which I also like
    - It's not an ugly Argonian style

^ all valid points. Luckily I'm running it as Jewlery and weapons, so appearance is mitigated :p

Well, maybe I need to spend some time acquiring red Mountain. A few more trials and I might get enough VO pieces to use a monster set also. Man, it's a never ending grind for stuff LOL!

I'm using the setup on a StamBlade, so I keep relentless up. Slimecraw might not be so great for me. I'd probably go back to skoria or something.

So anyways, to be clear...VO and one of these other drop sets would still likely be better than a crafted set. For now?

Viper is most useful in PVP. You'll get higher DPS from other sets in PVE - Spriggan, NMG, TBS, Hundings, Red Mountain and the like. This guy does all the math for you: http://tamrielfoundry.com/topic/stamina-nightblade-pve-dps-guide-for-dark-brotherhood/

Also Kra'gh is very good monster set for PVE.

I got the VO necklace I needed last nite, but is blue....I still gonna rock that. Planning on adding monster set and ditching the Viper...I think. So I'll be VO+NMG+Skoria, Kena, or Veledreth? Now my gear has been scattered all over several different toons.

I started hunting for red mountain stuff......it's very pricey right now. Like insanely high prices for sharpened whatever you can find. 800k for 1 sharp dagger. So uh, yeah. Definitely going to try crafted. Nice that I already have most what I need.

And good luck trying to farm any sharpened Red Mountain weapon. You'll just end up getting and endless supply of Shalk, or Sun.

I'm in the Red Mountain club. Because the name is cool, the style is cool and its Morrowind. So yeah... Between Viper and Red Mountain, its the latter for me. In term of performance too for example in vMA.

Ok, so the mountain may be better, but I'll have better luck getting all gold jewelry I think. Like this stuff is hard to find and pricey af in game right now.

So, I made a couple NMG sharp daggers to finish my set. The ones I had were precise. I was looking at TBS, but it would mess everything up. I add weapon damage enchant on front and crusher on offhand.

I'm not sure what the "Best" monster set is to use, so I threw on Veledreth. It seems to proc often and sometimes hit things. I may go back to skoria.

I haven't got the right Viper dagger drops yet to try it out with a monster set yet either. It seems the NMG is pretty good.

NMG is better than Red Mountain DPS wise. Plus it helps all the other stamina builds in your group.

Kra'gh is pretty great for PVE DPS also.
