Destro Staff for Templar?

With the new destro staff ult being out there, I thought I'd give it a shot (but have no experience with destro staff). Need advice on what type of destro staff (fire, ice, or lightning) and which morph (elemental rage or eye of the storm) would be best compliment a High Elf Templar in PvP. Also, any other destro line skills worth throwing on my bar? Thanks for any input.

The Destro ultimate is going to synergize well with the elemental playstyle you prefer. Fire destro skills are generally better in raw damage output. Ice skills are better for crowd control. Lightning skills are good for AOE. So, pick one ... you can always change styles with a different staff.

So far, I prefer elemental rage for the extra damage effect ... though either one will compliment a High Elf's Elemental Talent abilities nicely.

Not sure about the high elf but I believe the elemental relates moreso to your CP allotment and gear set ....right?

Thanks! What do you mean about using lightning staff for AoE though?

And one last stupid question...once you get your destro ultimate, do you need a destro staff equipped to use it?

Yes you do. For all weapon ultimates, you need the weapon on the same bar.

For single target damage fire staff does better. Blockade of elements is part of almost, if not all, magika single target builds. It does additional damage when the dstaff effects are on the target. It is about the only normal skill that a magplar would use from the staff. Normal skill, not talking about the ult.

Of course, just for fun any of the staffs works fine.

With the ultimates specifically they'll have a chance to proc the status effect so...
Burning from inferno does damage over time
Concussed from lightning reduces their damage done for a bit
And chilled from frost snares them

Someone correct me if I'm wrong here.

For staves in general, fire will do more damage, Lightning has the ability for the heavy attack to work as an aoe meaning it does damage to multiple enemies, and frost has roots and snares for cc.

Personally, I like the idea of using frost ult with elemental blockade and winter born gear set.

For pve, fire always fire for blockade of fire (sorcs may use lightning on front bar, but fire back bar)
For pvp, whatever floats your boat, all have situational uses-
Lightning is brilliant against shuffle/dodge roll monkies/ dk's with reflect
Fire, well it does more damage and you can fully charge a heavy attack from stealth with it, cancel with a javelin and then jesus beam ftw
Ice is nice, the blockade and weaves can root and snare people all over the shop which can be useful as templar cc's are a bit lacking.
As for the ult i've only used the gbaoe fire version and it melts things in pve. In pvp i imagine if you dropped any of them then cc with either javelin or shards you're going to put someone in beam range (if you have vd on and cc two people and beam 1 i imagine you could get a doublekill+ fairly easily

It's cool to get new abilities to play with -- but the destro ult sucks in PVP. It works in some scenarios but you're better off with meteor.

If you're going to use it -- it's best to use it while farming ap in choke points. Alessia Bridge for instance.

Some templars use Fire Destro/Light Destro.
1 for damage and other for AoE.
