Has every player turned into a toxic jerk? (rant)

So I'm a humble female player here in the PS4 NA server, DC if that matters. 460CP, if that even matters. Plus subscriber. Lately, I've had a huge gripe with what seems like literally every player I run into happens to be an elitist douchy jerk.

I'm wondering if this is something perhaps console exclusive, or if this is also a problem on pc (idk, because my 10-year old laptop sucks). It's gotten so bad, I have to be cautious about even the guilds I'm in - which btw, I do not recommend joining the [Snip] - if they want to be a bunch of other-alliance hating, sexist elitists, they can do so without me (they quite literally all ganged up on me via text chat when I pointed out one of the members being an item scammer, shouting sexist insults at me and all. Sad times when even your own guild turns on you).

But I run into this alot. Even for being CP460, it's almost as if no one wants to group with you unless you're top-tier CP531+. Which is why I have to rely on guilds more, except I have to be careful even with those (so I guild-hop alot, it's sad).

I consider myself an understanding, mature adult (30yrs old if you care), and I help and assist other players if need be. I don't understand the increase in this douchy bsing attitude, and I feel like it's getting worse. Almost to the point where even the game is no longer enjoyable.

And no you can't have my stuff. (j/k)

It's unfortunate but it happens(especially in today's internet age where there are no consequences for said behavior. It's a joke that people were more polite in the wild west days because many people were "packing") but no not everyone is that way. Plenty of people out there who don't have to put others down daily and actually want to have a good time and enjoy the game.

Toxicity and bad attitudes are part of any online game and especially an mmo where accountability for ones actions are non existent and age ranges can vary so much. All I can suggest is you take a step back and ignore the stupidity and toxicity as much as possible and your playtime will be a much more enjoyable experience for doing so. If guild hopping is required to put you in a better place with relate able players then so be it, I know a bunch of people that hopped from guild to guild and finally found a place with my guild where they fit in and are now enjoying the game again.

omg, that is shocking that you would recieve such treatment from your own guild! It is a shame that you are in NA, we would have the perfect home for you in our lovely guild of great people, and with almost half of us girls, certainly no sexism!

I think perhaps it is just your server, or maybe I have just been lucky enough not to encounter too much of this! Certainly I have met my fair share or arses in this game but nothing like you have described. Report them! You paid for this game like everybody else, you deserve to enjoy it without getting abuse from idiots.

It's such a shame that accounts can't be shared or be transferred across servers, otherwise I might spend more time there :(

It is not a console issue it is a people issue there are jerks in both PC gaming and console gaming trust me the ratio is the same. You were just in the wrong guild anyone that gangs up on one person over petty reasons like that is an ass period.

I have been in the Burning Persona for a while and they don't give a *** about alliances gender or CP (they had a run 2 days ago with 2 CP 120s) and chat is very active if you want an invite you can message me @Red_Psylocke or @Macktor

Thank you for the advice and invite!

NA/PC here. A long time ago, in the first trading guild I joined, I was jumped on and threatened when I caught an officer lying to a new member about the requirements to stay in the guild (trying to make them donate more). Note that I didn't even accuse them, I explained it as if the officer had made a simple mistake. But of course, the officer had bank privileges so someone donating more meant said officer had access to more, and they didn't like having someone getting in the way. Anyway, I ended up leaving a while after that happened. Point is, some people are awful.

But trust me, most people are on the okay-ish to good spectrum. For every awful person that I met in the game, I met dozens of other people who are really great. Total strangers on The Rift zone chat that helped me get my Ysgramor pieces (I love you guys so much), all the people who joined me on telling skeleton puns during this festival, the guys in Orsinium that wait until everybody from the group arrives before killing ogres and rescuing prisoners, it's great.
Just so that everyone knows, my Altmer still can't have black hair. About a dozen of Altmer NPCs in the game have black hair. Just saying.

    Meet my characters:
    Command: Do the thing.

Zadarri, Khajiit Fist of Thalmor: The thing was done, as commanded.
Durza gra-Maghul, Orc blacksmith: The thing was done perfectly, in the most efficient way.
Tegwen, Bosmer troublemaker: You can't prove I didn't do the thing.
Sings-Many-Songs, Argonian fisher: Sure, I'll do the thing... Eventually. Maybe.
Aerindel, Altmer stormcaller: After extensive research, I've come to the conclusion that doing the thing would be a waste of resources.
Liliel, Dunmer pyromancer: Aerindel said I shouldn't do the thing. Something about "resources".
Gyda Snowcaller, Nord cryomancer: I will find a way to do it that won't waste resources and make Aerindel proud of me.
Beatrice Leoriane, Breton vampire: I persuaded someone else into doing the thing. You are welcome, dear.
Sahima, Redguard performer: Doing the thing sounds awfully unpleasant and really not my problem.
Ellaria Valerius, Imperial priestess: I'll pray to the Eight for the thing to be done, if it is Their will.

@geonsocal This is good advice for both in and outside of the game... Thanks for that.

It's definitely gotten worse as the game matures and we are left with only the serious players.

It also depends on what you're doing.

Pvp is pretty toxic at times, and end-game PVE is very elitist.

I don't quest, but when I'm in those areas (Rift/Orsinium etc.) I always find RPers having a great time and just enjoying themselves

The stress of the gear grind *** with people heads, I think. A lot of frustrated virgins in zone chat these days.

With that said, you still find some great groups using LFG.

Whenever you have a good PUG run with good people, my advice is to friend them and build yourself a nice small network of quality people.

    I second this.

Slightly more noticeable on NA-PC now, after One Tamriel dropped. Put on player on ignore yesterday, who felt the need to throw random insults inside a delve, and I mean random as they were not whispered but typed into zone chat. This is not common though, thank goodness.

People are easily lured into Evil when given the opportunity without the fear of consequences. It's an unfortunate truth that can't be changed. As long as there is a free internet and the belief of Anonymity, there will be Evil people.

Same deal on Xbox, also coming from a female mid-20's perspective. I got emp awhile ago and an entire guild of guys became extremely rude (assuming jealous), went as far as telling any new players they found in pvp to never res me, give away my position to enemy groups, etc. because they said I was a *****. The funny thing is, when I got emp I actually gave out gold, tripots, thousands of repair kits, and siege to every single person that was in that last keep with me, including twenty or so people from their guild. So I'm very sorry to hear you also had to deal with a less than welcoming guild experience.

I want to give everyone the benefit of the doubt and say that many have grown irritated in general with the direction of the game and so they just take it out on everyone, but I won't excuse the blatant sexism that occurs.

There are tons of great people in game that I've met and it's always awesome to run into friendly people when grouping with randoms or running around the sewers, but recently I decided to take a break. It was just feeling more like a chore dealing with all of the toxicity; I can't believe how different it has become compared to console launch. Maybe I just grew bored of running maelstrom for the 800th time though .

The extra health on the bosses has in some cases exposed mid toe players used to just out DPS into mechanics.

The resulting wipes and of course blame could not possible be on these people.

They handle the stress and failure with all the grace and dignity of baby giraffe.

No the whole game is not like that, sorry about your guild mates being turncoates sounds like the don't like being called out either.

If you dont find it enjoyable my best advice would be to just stop and start new somewhere else. Try looking for new guilds or take a break from the game.

I just started playing like 3 weeks ago ago and so far most people have been pretty cool.. I'm playing on PC though.. I've noticed though that in general with a lot of games people who play on console tend to be younger and/or a lot more immature than PC gamers.. of course there is *** that use PC too but it seems theres a lot more on the console.

leave that guild, find a better one (keywords in the guild description: mature, friendly, relaxed), use ignore list on those people, report them to ZOS in the game, that is the only thing you can do.

of course there are also toxic people on PC too, but that is the things that you can do against it
