How do those new alliance dogs/outfits/mounts work?

I'm EP so only get the option of an EP dog/outfit/mount, but what happens if they're used on say a DC character? Does the armour change or does the armour just stay EP? Can other faction character even use it. I only have one character and I also think the mounts aren't worth the outlay so I'm in no position to check this out myself. Thanks.
