The new Destro Staff Ultimate is Amazing!!

The fact that I can target a specific area and the damage it does, has made it my new Favorite Ultimate. Still haven't morphed it yet, just started playing with it yesterday but is this thing scaling off my increased spell or fire damage? I ask because I just tested it in a delve with 2 boss mobs close together. The main guy has 108k health so I used that as a base to see what kind of damage the Ultimate would cause. My Firestorm is currently level 3 and it states that it does 7277 Flame Damage every 1 second for 7 seconds. By my Calculations that is 50,939 damage total.

So in my test I threw the Ultimate down and then stood there and just hit my shield while they beat on me. The Ultimate killed them both without me doing anything else so it obviously does at least 108k damage instead of the listed 50.9k cause that was the health of the main guy.

I'm strictly PvE so can't test it in pvp but I imagine it's more PvE oriented

It's amazing in PvP too, if you can get off the ultimate and Cc them inside of it, its game over.

It's still expensive, nobody is using it but sorcs (who pay about 200 ult for it).

It has a two second telegraph on it and a huge red circle you can walk or roll out of. I'd like to see dawnbreaker, berserker, and incap strike turn into a seven second channel ult with a two second wind up and a huge red circle.

It's good for area denial, or against really stupid people who love to stand in red circles. But most of them would die to siege anyways.

I love it too! I was VERY surprised by how powerful it is. I chose the morph where the storm centers around me. In pvp that will help me tremendously with all the in your face melee builds out there.

From what I've seen, it's good for those Zergs running toward you in Cyrodiil. Unlike Meteor's telltale bright circle and rumble before it hits, I don't think amidst the chaos players really notice the Destro Ult forming until it's too late.

It's awesome for PVE but in PVP it's meh. It does hit hard and you might even kill some bad players but decent players definitely notice it building and groups tend to focus on trying to kill you while you have it up. If fighting against larger groups I basically have to dodge roll and heal while it's going so I don't get killed. Or I can use devouring swarm and keep on using other damage skills throughout because of the massive heals so the overall DPS is probably even better for a much lower Ult cost.

I love it in PVP I love the effects and animation, HOWEVER. Activating it has given me some unusual lag, instead of continuously moving lag.. (what i call moving but stuttering) the whole screen just...stops and no one moves for about 2 seconds, and then it speeds up. Strange switched ultimate to try it again and no lag? This is happening on PS4.

I was getting that on PS4 too, hadn't noticed any particular skills setting it off tho. It seems to have gone away now, think it was just the game settling in to OT!

Regardless of how the destro ult compares to other magicka ultimates, I've seen this ultimate dropped in pvp SO MUCH MORE than i originally expected based on how people said that it sucked. Whereas the amount of times I've been hit by the 2h ult can still be counted on the hands.

maybe its bc the destro ult is so much more obvious when it drops and I'm getting hit with the 2h ult without even knowing.

One thing I learned was that the lightning version of Elemental Rage is actually stronger than the fire one. The extra ticks from the longer duration add up to more than the additional 10% damage on each tick gives you.

Its good when you know when and how to use it It can be dangerous in pvp to, especially on sorc which can do some presure with it while being able to stick to retreating target (with the eye morph). But is it better than meteror + prison combo? Hard to say...Time will tell.

Crit damage helps increase it greatly. Adds around 15k dps on the first trash in vMoL on my magblade so the tooltip only shows the base damage without crit.

Hell yes. Catch someone in a keep and talons and chain them up and it's good bye. Get eruption on for the snare and it's good times. Really good dropping the ice one when being breached. Put Ele blockade down and watch them freeze.

Yea reading about the complaints on the pts had me worried but having tried it myself now, i would have to its pretty good. I would just say to satisfy others maybe give one of the morphs the ability to do single target damage. But i still think its fine as is.

and how does it work, if you cast it with you as a center? when you gap close to an enemy, will the storm move with you too?

Still nothing but a poor man's banner. Overrated.

In PvE other ults, including meteor, deal more damage, and have secondary effects (and cheaper ult cost).

In PvP it has limited use, but as someone already said, only stupid people actually stay in the AoE, just like only stupid people don't block when you have the meteor white runes around your character.

Easy to counter, people will just take some time getting used to it. And its overuse in PvP is most likely due to news value and people experimenting with it.

Nah thanks. I'll still stick with my meteor for burst damage, and my bats or banner for aoe. The only thing I might switch to is Soul Assault for single target burst. I don't see a single reason to choose destro ult over banner or meteor, in neither PvP nor PvE (as a MagDK).

New recipe how to create fps drop on PvP:

1. Make 4+ team of players with destruction staff ultimate unlocked.
2. Make sure all of them have lightning staffs
3. All stack ultimate to 100%.
4. Go to the sieged keep.
5. When people start running inside keep all people in Your team drop ultimates in 1 place

Optional steps:

Bring 1+ sorc with negate

Enjoy the fireworks

In PvP, quicker damage is often better than longer duration damage, even if the longer duration delivers more damage overall.

Dunmer still get more mileage out of the fire ultimate if I recall.

ALSO! Illambris+ Destro ultimate+ Fire wall of elements+ Liquid lightning = Elemental devesatation.

Theres nothing quite like it tbh. When everything procs you just feel like the Archmage of tamriel.

I heard people complaining on the PTS phase, but when I saw it in action it was amazing!

The damage it deals is just huge! I saw one of this new sponge-bullet mobs in a Vet Dungeon just melt away like they were made of sugar. And the animation is awesome.

Can't wait to get a few skill points to try it out.
