Starting out with ESO dungeons

Honestly, I've never had trouble with doing pledges with a random group. You ill be better off finding a guild that can help you, but as long as you let your group know that you are new to the dungeon and are willing to take constructive criticism, you should be fine. Most of the people who complain about elitists are the type of people who take suggestions as a personal attack or are unwilling to change to fit the necessary mechanics.

Please understand with forum complains about dungeons is we all have differing degree of skill with the game which impacts how well we can do the dungeons.

@probablyafk For leveling alchemy, I would recommend making poisons instead of potions, and using more of the non-flower ingredients. You get the same xp, but since you make more poisons than potions per ingredient, you get more gold selling the results to a vendor if you made poisons. Also, there is no advantage to using more than two ingredients per potion/poison when leveling unless you are still discovering traits for the flowers and such.

@OldGamerESO My healer is off-dps for dungeons and only goes the buff route for Trials (and practice). For low-dps groups the extra dps helps more than the buffs, and for experienced groups it's actually good practice for them to manage their own resources outside of Trials so they can be even more potent in them.

She is a Dragonknight, so I do keep the igneous weapons buff up on the group at all times (plus that boosts my heals and damage too), but aside from that the extra dps for four-month groups gets us further than the buffs.

I used to run Aggressive Warhorn and Siphon Spirit and Elemental Drain and the undaunted Orbs in dungeons, but the return on investment for only four people maximum meant we were taking longer than when I went full dps on my back bar. We get more speed runs if I hurt stuff too.
In Trials with twelve people, on the other hand, the results are very different, and you definitely get your skill point's worth in that situation.
Why be normal when you can be better?

    Elissandra Ravenwing, Magicka Dragonknight Healer
    Lady Kalila, Stamina Templar DPS
    Stands-in-Danger, Nightblade Saptank
    Zalarah, Stamina Dragonknight DPS

@kasa-obake : Thnaks again for all that detail: A few more questions:
    • Regarding necrotic orbs and its morphs: Do people use the synergy like they should or do they ignore it?
    • I know everyone loves repentance, but other than recovering from trash groups its not usful to group during boss fights right? No bodies to eat. I do like the 10% magicka regen though for myself!
    • I always have channeled focus for the major mending and magicka regen. Isn't that a must have on your bar?
    • You mentioned 'Ritual' for destro staff... which one? Healing ritual only has an 8 meter radius and I haven't liked it versus regeneration. Extended rutuail / ritual of destruction I like for purifying

    Thanks!

I don't mind grouping with anyone as long as they actually stay with the group. I've had people who insisted on running around pulling in every mob near them instead of focusing on one thing at a time, resulting in group wipes. If a group sticks together and wipes, we can communicate how to better approach whatever the situation is and get through it.

@OldGamerESO Most players use the necrotic orbs synergy. Just make sure to throw one or two every 10-12 seconds. And orbs restore magicka to everyone. Not just the person who activated the synergy, so feel free to urge your group to make sure to activate all synergies.

On bosses, you can often still repent. Ex: Wayrest Sewers II - repent on the 15 zombies you bring to the boss for the HM, and on the spectral bats (if you're fast enough that is), every Bone Colossus boss ever that conjures the few skeleton adds periodically - repent, the second to last boss in Banished Cells II that summons imps, clannfears and twilights etc. etc. While it is dungeon specific, you'd be surprised by the amount of repetenances you can pull on boss fights. And at any rates, you have shards to restore stamina. Repentance is just a bonus. And yeah the 10% magicka regen is nice, which is why i have it on my "healing" bar.

Channeled focus is really really good. Unfortunately, I don't have the space to slot it if I want to have radiant destruction. Most
people swap out necrotic orbs for radiant instead though. It all depends on your group. If your dds are just regular 13-15k dps dudes with atro stone, then they shouldn't run out of magicka and just elemental drain should suffice. I have to slot orbs all the time when I'm not pugging dungeons though because on DDs with TBS + thief + shadow and 863 magicka regen, elemental drain alone often doesn't suffice.

Healing Ritual is crap. I'm talking about the Extended / Ritual of Retribution. Personally, I have Ritual of Retribution for the increased healing ticks, but both are good.
