INTRODUCTION TO JALAPEÑO
I was a little bored of 6 second fights when I was running Viper, so I wanted to change things around and run a completely non-meta build, and so Jalapeño was born. The other main idea behind the build is to make something that anyone can run, for very little cost, and part of it being easily crafted.
Where does the name come from? You'll find out in the next section when we go over the gear.
GEAR
We'll be running x2 five piece sets, and an undaunted 2pc. If you don't have the undaunted items, or don't fancy grinding them, I feel you - so I'll list an alternative you can use in its stead.
Ashen Grip
Yes, that's right. I'm running 5pc Ashen Grip. This set boasts Maximum health, Weapon damage, Weapon Critical, and a 10% chance to breath fire on melee attacks, dealing a huge amount of damage. You will literally incinerate your foes with this 4 trait crafted set, turning them into nothing but a pile of ash.
Sword Dancer
This set drops from Blessed Crucible in The Rift. It has Maximum Health, Maximum Stamina, Weapon Damage, and adds 400 weapon damage to your Duel Wield attacks. We'll be using Duel Wield for our main DPS, so this is quite nice. Another good option is Strength of the Automaton. Instead of increasing damage of your DW abilities, it gives you 400 weapon damage to ALL of your physical abilities. So what's the point of running Sword Dancer if Automaton is obviously better? Absolutely none. I just like the name. ZOS truly did a great job coming up with these sets.
Valykn Skoria (2pc)
This 2pc undaunted set has a chance to drop a meteor on your targets head (and surrounding enemies) when you deal DoT damage. Now we're running several DoTs, so this baby will proc a lot. Another alternative to Skoria is 1pc Kena, 1pc Blood spawn, giving you more stamina regen and weapon damage. It's totally up to you.
If you have none of these, you can just use something like 2pc Leki instead, which will give you a little more weapon damage (similar to 1pc Kena).
SKILLS
Skills aren't too important, because you're not really meta enough to kill anything, but here's what I use. I don't run Shuffle because that's too mainstream, so we throw a lot of points into Tumbling so we can roll dodge more.
Defensive bar (2h Maul/Greatsword)
1. Crit Surge
2. Stampede
3. Hurricane
4. Defensive Rune
5. Bound Armaments
Ult: Absorption Field (Negate)
Offensive bar (DW)
1. Blood Craze
2. Rearming Trap
3. Bloodthirst
4. Resolving Vigor
5. Bound Armaments
Ult: For PVE, Lacerate. For PVP, Dawnbreaker of Smiting
Why Bound Armaments? Well, I don't use dark deal because it's so mainstream right now, so I run blue Orisinium food (Max health + stam regen), which means my stamina is lower than normal. Bound Armaments boosts my stam by quite a bit, and the purple mist floating around my body is pretty cool. Thanks for the cool FX, Wrobel.
Defensive Rune is really our only CC.. which is a shame, because it's not very good. I do use it when fishing however to prevent gank attempts.
VIDEO OF THIS BUILD IN ACTION
Considering it's hard to kill anything with a non-meta build I doubt a video will be up any time soon. I'll try and get some footage of me killing CP50 players in green armor and upload one when I can.
I hope you enjoy the build, and have a great time not being successful in PVP because you can't proc 3 sources of damage from your sets in a single light attack. But hey, at least you can breathe fire and look cool.
