Tired of All Those Best Build Threads?

Actually they're quite useful. Without them I'd likely still be putting only weapons skills on my weapons bars.

But I can't escape the desire to lampoon them a little. How, after all, do you maintain a serious demeanor after you see someone use a silly word like, Magicka? Yeah, try saying that word aloud in a conventional setting and watch as people move away from you.

But I digress. We're now seeing dueling builds of course. And I saw one, very thoughtful build suggestion for a mage Nightblade on an EU guild forum. Still....I had to offer my suggestions...

Good build!

I could say something useful pertaining to dueling - which I've THOROUGHLY enjoyed in this update - or discuss the merits of very high crit in a dueling build. [his was HIGH magic stat, low crit]

But...nah. It's the intangibles that interest me.

High elf? Yes, they have that desto boost racial passive. But their skin looks liverish, jaundiced in some cases. They can be very tall, which some folks find sexy, but in a BDSM way....and to make the most of that you need a costume with an exposed corset.

With this look some opponents will WANT to be punished by your character because they KNOW they've been bad...very bad.

I take a different approach. I choose the dark elf because they're sexy and have those exotic skin hues. My mage Nightblade tends to distract opponents with her "supplementary qualities."

I learned this the hard way, alas. At first she used no costume at all and looked entirely too sinister....

No. The key to this build's success in dueling is the use of a costume....

Wearing this she gets dueling invitations from boys whose minds are clearly not on fighting.

And that's important - the opponents you attract. If they respond to this, two important mage Nightblade skills are not only useful - and you do really need to keep your opponent CCed and debuffed - but keenly appropriate: Crippling Grasp and Prolonged Suffering.

Yes, the costume looks absurd....and with a Dwemer resto staff it looks like something from a '60s sci fi B movie...

But it works. Silly bits aside, she's Julianos and Torug's Pact, with Willpower rings and necklace, Thief mundus, running (buffed) a 37k mana pool at 78.2% crit with 21k health, 400 cp, allocated pretty much the way yours are.

She has a weakness for Redguard men with large biceps, likes to hang out in a bar in Sentinel, and, to feel better about herself after numerous nights of hedonistic activities, attends the weekly sermon at the Tribunal Temple in Mournhold, dressed in something a bit more - but not entirely - conservative.

The sermons are held every Thursday on the NA server at 9PM (GMT -4) to a large turnout. She prays....chants, along with everyone else, "and the ending of the words is ALMSIVI," listens to the sermon, and promptly returns to Sentinel.

Why they haven't tossed me from that guild I have no idea. I get kicked from NA server guilds on a :'( regular basis......
