How is the Witches Festival?

On an extended trip but curious what I will be missing. Might be back for the last week of it. Save some of the loot for me

I haven't felt so excited for a halloween event in years. I think it is awesome, addicting, and fun. I took a day off and played 10 hours straight. Make sure to get back in time. lots of great loot to be had and a great way to celebrate halloween. Makes me feel like a kid again.

Well, travel schedule is fixed but I should have from about the 26th of this month to play. At least I can still access the forums (take that Great Firewall )

No so good if your a low level player since you have to be able to find the burial grounds in order to complete the quests, so if you haven't found any your just out of luck...

Hmm well if you mean the burial sites in Craglorn even vet players had their maps wiped with the upgrade to One Tamriel. Good luknow in your search.

There in the first zone... .you can start the game and run there in 5 mins.

Honestly it's pretty easy to farm, the event isn't amazing basically just adds a little RNG loot box to bosses which is nice to be honest.

You can get everything in a day if your bothered.

But with one tamriel and the farming people complete stuff very quickly.

Plenty of time. Ive played for only a handful of hours here and there for the last two days and Ive got everything but maybe three or four items out of the 25 theyve introduced for the event. They definitely dont want people missing out.

1% enjoying the quest, 99% grinding this 100 plunder skull achivement. Wish this event was less about grinding and more about enjoying an event that only happens once per year

All the people running around annoying me in every zone means this event is a success. Seriously, you can't go anywhere without 5-10 people running in.

The one interesting thing I learned is that the more people at a dolmen, the more likely that an achievement boss will spawn. Soloing brought so few, completed more since this event started than since release...

It's a long event. You can get a skull every 5 minutes. Relax and enjoy!

I'm loving it! Been putting off Silver for a long time and now I'm just running the zones, hitting delves and world bosses. It's pretty fun because you don't need to grind. Plenty of loot going around.

Don't just play the game like you usually do, grind undaunted, do pledges, do trials, msa etc...

It's only a grind if you make it, you have until Nov 1st there is no rush.

It's ok. It's a fun little RNG thing with the plunder skulls and some new achievements. I definitely don't see what it really has to do with Halloween though lol. There is nothing "spooky" about it.

For lower level players though, the xp bonus while you are in skeleton costume for the festival is probably the best benefit.

I absolutely love this festival! It's soooo much fun.. makes me feel like going to a small town Autumn Festival... with Pumpkin Pie and the works.... although this one is Pumpkin and Guts!

I know you're PC - are you NA? If so I will save you loot and give it to you when you return if you miss out.

I just checked and I have 10 of the motif chapters set aside for you already.

It's a great time. Truly never thought I'd enjoy something so simple. I've collected the motif, bought the crown motif(haters gonna hate) and have all but 2 recipes and still need masks.

I'd advise when you get back, to run normal maelstrom. I've been leveling a new toon, takes about 30 minutes, and you get a plunder skull every arena. As long as those arenas last over 3:45 each.

Yeah, PC-NA. Thanks for the thoughtful response. The ESO community is really great.

The event is superb, i love it!

So much farming of everything, skulls, potions, soul gems, mats. Just been doing random daily dungeons over and over again to get stuff.

Does these new recipes seem I don't know kind of powerful for magicka builds?

I feel sad for the grind/camp complainers... these things are classic MMO. You're supposed to be chatting and goofing around with others while doing this stuff. Pass the time; make some friends. I am having so much fun!
While I'll admit there seems to be less random coordination on the NA server, yesterday was still a blast.
On EU there may be 16 - 20 in a large group who don't all speak english and entertain one another with emotes. I spend most of my time in this game alone and this has been a great time for me so far as has the OT update in general as now there are people everywhere. Good job ZoS afaic.

The event isn't terrible but not that great either.
I was expecting something more Horror based with a Halloween event, not Trick or Treat.

That being said, I am liking the new recipes the event offers, something different to the same old Max Health + resource food.

Yeah the grinds in a lot of MMOs are when people are usually on voice chat blabbing about whatever, but for a solo players who only group when they have to for things like group dungeons & trials it can seem like morevery of a chore.

Here is how it went for me.

Step 1. As soon as I got on I opened my mail for instructions on how to start the event. There were none. So I asked a friend and apparently you have to dig around the crown store (wai) for a whistle that summons a quest giver. It's very easy for a player to miss the fact that any holiday event is even happening. All so they could direct your attention to the crown store. Pretty disgusted with that.

Step 2. The quest giver said I need to kill delve and dungeon bosses for a death essence so I went to two delves that were packed and finaly went to a public dungeon and waited at the boss spawn point. After 3 kills and 15m nothing dropped so I went to two more delves and finally found a boss that wasn't dead.

Step 3. Where to turn in the quest. There was no indication on the quest as to where it was supposed to be turned in. The "show on map" just told me to leave my zone. I finally had to ask someone where to go. They only found out because people were asking in zone.

Step 4. I completed the quest and suddenly turned into a skeleton. Okay now what? Thankfully I had an addon that told me I had a new buff, so I checked it out and it said I needed to kill bosses for trick or treat bags.

Step 5. 2 hours of standing around doing nothing but waiting for bosses to respawn so I could kill them and get bags.

I'm glad they did something but they really did it poorly and so it just became a frustration for me. I was really looking forward to holiday events but standing around waiting for respawns for 2 hours is not fun.

Absolutely useless and harmful quest. Now in the game everywhere running around the ugly skeletons in rags. The first time I saw and was horrified. What an abomination. Blasphemy.
I suggest: running around on the game like walking corps - those who lost the duel in PvP. Lost and was killed? Now go 1 day as garbage and stupid punk.

The witches festival is good for the 100% experience bonus, but the recipes, motifs & masks are junk. The only purpose those plunder skulls have is to irritate you, I've been farming them for 3 days and still haven't got a legendary drop from a boss or dolmen. I'm talking over 8 farming groups, 200 skulls and countless dolmens and still no legendary item. Extremely aggravating when 6 other people join your group & get it in two minutes, or whenever someone wants to sell 3 of the suckers in zone chat. For me to continue farming them will surely lead to insanity, hopefully this post saves some lives.

Festival? pfft...

It's ok, but unless I'm missing a huge part of the "festival" it's incredibly basic.

You get an item from the crown store which starts a quest, so far so good. You meet a creepy witch, give her some ingredients and she gives you a magic potion which turns you into a skeleton and sends you off to gather more items from bosses around the world.

And...that's it. From that point on it's just every time you kill a boss you get an extra container with some Halloween themed items inside. It's not bad, but it only took about an hour to feel like I'd done everything and all that was left was repeating the same process with different bosses and hoping for different drops.

As a fun little addition to what you'd normally do it's ok, but compared to other games festivals it's a big let-down. No mini games, no themed dungeons or other activities, no festival NPCs (or GMs role-playing) and as far as I've seen only a few achievements.

I barely even went after the Plunder Skulls but now because of the ones i picked up as well as the excess my guild dumped on me my main crafter has most of the motif learned as well as some with my secondary. Ive been using the 100% xp boost wih the polymorph to level my new character, and once thats at 50, im honestly gonna ditch the morph, unless i go on a farming run with the guild.

I do appreciate what ZOS has done for the game, but id rather not look like a skeleton for the next couple weeks.

It's epic. Only thing is am im sure people will shoot me but I like a bit of graft, the drop rate is too good. Had pretty much everything by the second day! Sure the masks are rare but maybe slowing down the pace would have been good for longevity of the event
