Prosperous trait not even working?

After all rants and so about Training and Prosperous traits I just created a 7-piece set of Prosperous gear to make some gold (and at least get something out of this trait) and, in killing groups of mobs, I was under the idea I was not making any extra gold at all when looting.

So, I decided to test on individual mob kills, always the same type of mob, one by one, and looting the mob I got:

Using regular gear (not Prosperous trait):
- I looted gold for amounts of 31 to 41

Using a 7-piece gear (Prosperous trait):
- I looted gold for amounts of 31 to 41

So, shouldn't I be getting more than 41 gold at some point using Prosperous?

Can someone please also test/confirm if this unwanted trait is not even working?

Thanks.

I'd love to see the results of this. The irony if this is broke considering how often this trait drops would be grand. But honestly I never considered the percentages to be worth it while grinding mobs. Never looked at a full suit though.

So useless trait that even they themselves didn't bother to check if it works? Wouldn't be surprised.

Did you check your player's actual amount of gold before and after? The bonus may not be applied until after you pick up the gold. The 10% gold bonus from ESO+ used to work that way.

I second this, since going from ESO+ to non-ESO+ I haven't really noticed any difference in the gold dropping off mobs despite a 10% bonus. It should be simple to check (you can always bank it all, kill 1 mob with prosperous then 1 without and see the difference if any), so should see what it is one way or another.

For the sake of being thorough, maybe also check whether or not any loot-based addons play a role (IE the addon can't tell you've changed gear).

That'd be really depressing if it didn't even function though.

Sorry to necromance this post @CarbonX, but did you ever get an answer on this? I just made a 7/7 Prosperous set and not only didn't I see a boost in gold, players I was grouped with were getting MORE gold than me off of enemies without wearing Prosperous gear.

The trait works. This trait only calculates after you to pick up the gold. It does not effect how much gold drops from enemies except the ESO plus bonus. That is calculated during the loot drops. Also amount of gold dropping from enemies is random just like all loot in this game hence why some people can get more gold since the trait does not effect that. Your not going to see much of a difference off of a drop from one or two enemies because the amount of gold is not big enough to see the changes. What you need to do is kill groups of human mobs which drops the most money. The more you kill at a time the more gold that you get which also the bigger the bonus of gold you get from using the trait. Public dungeons tend to be the best place since they have plenty of human enemies, that respawn fast, and you can farm at a decent rate. Each pull can get you from 100 to 300 gold per group of five enemies. In less than an hour you can up to 25,000 gold. If you have a build that kill enemies faster thab this method works great, if not buddy up with a friend.

@Darkonflare15 Thanks, I wasn't checking inventory after each kill to see if what displayed on the loot screen differed from what was deposited. And I agree, the math says you wouldn't get much extra from single enemies.

It works for me, when I loot something it says 30g but then I pick more.. like 40g and it shows in the loot log. Remember that broken gear removes the prosperous trait bonus. BTW I noticed that I was picking less gold when I grouped with my friend. :/

The fact still remains that if your intentions are to make gold you're better off with impen.

How is someone better off? Does it drop more gold? Is this a function of time; clearing enemies faster? Not dying? (I'm not having issue dying)

Show me the math. Not starting an argument... I genuinely want to know the reason.

The gold you save from repairs by using impen exceeds the amount you would gain wearing preposterous.

Well f-me with a daedra. I thought Prosperous was just hated for being in the loot tables for high-level gear. Now I see the real reason - it serves no purpose anywhere. The trait itself is an oxymoron, costing as much gold as you gain from it.

Thank you for the link. Very informative... just wish it has come up in my searches before I crafted my set. At least I only burnt materials to make CP150 gear.

So you're saying that the money saved on repair costs will exceed the gold bonus from a full set of Impen.

In the example above (25K/hr with a full Prosperous set @ +49% total buff), your base income without Prosperous is 16,667 gold/hr. That means your repairs would need to exceed 4,166/hr ((25,000-16,667)/2) in order for Impen to be more profitable.

Do you really repair for over ~4,000 g/hr?

    @CarbonX

Working it not prosperous isn't worth crafting. More goldbis made off the drops than one can get directly from the mobs.
