Trait help for PVP

So I gather sharpened is the best trait for dps but I have a question for the Experts amongst the community.

This is for PVP

1. For my stamblade I have precise and nirnhond maelstrom weapons. Does a bog standard gold sharpened weapon outweigh the benifits of these maelstrom weapons?

2. Same question reference a sorc I have the precise and nirn maelstrom flame staff. Is the general gold sharpened a better option?

I tried doing some math on it, so I'll put what I got.

Variables
EWD: ((max stamina/magicka / 10.54) + Weapon/Spell Damage)
Sharpened: Value of Sharpened trait
Precise: Value of Precise trait
Nirn: Value of Nirnhoned trait
WeaponValue: Damage of weapon
WD: Weapon/Spell damage added by sets, jewelry, etc (based on your build)
MaxResource: If you're a stamina build, use your stamina, magicka build, use magicka
CritChance: Value of your Critical Chance without Precise
MaelstromEnchant: value of weapon/spell damage added by vMA weapon OR Critical Chance (as a percent) added by vMA weapon (You can only have one)
Resistance: Effective Resistance of enemy player (including debuffs and penetration) (if over ~33k, then set as 33k)


For precise weapons:
1 - (Sharpened/Resistance) > (1 + ((Precise + MaelstromEnchant) / CritChance)) * (1 + (MaelstromEnchant / EWD)

If this is true, then that Sharpened weapon is better


For Nirnhoned Weapons:
1 - (Sharpened/Resistance) > (1 + ((Precise + MaelstromEnchant) / CritChance)) * C
C = (MaxResource + (1+Nirn)WeaponValue + WD + MaelstromEnchant) / (MaxResource + WeaponValue + WD)

If true, Sharpened Weapon is better


None of these include Major Brutality or Major Sorcery, or take into account the unique ability modification that Maelstrom Weapons have. And, in the end, this assumes that you can pull off the same rotation every time and stuff like that.

Thanks for the help with this... I have done small real time tests but it's difficult to gauge with the different classes you encounter in Pvp.

At the minute I am using the precise maelstrom weapon but I think I may look at shifting back to a gold sharpened weapon.

If you are going to consider criticals then you are missing any assumptions about the critical resistance of other players. Makes a huge difference.

I run full impen and sharpened... Normaly. The only reason I am using the precise weapon is because it's the best trait on the maelstrom weapons that I have. I thought the extra weapon damage would out weigh the the lack of sharpened trait.
