Populated areas and spell spamming

Please excuse my ignorance but when I land in wayrest or other highly populated centre there are large clusters of people doing nothing other than spamming special attacks or spells. I cant pass through without being turned red, have healing spells applied or some other crazy buff.

Do they get xp gains from this?

Its like a kids playground with everyone trying to show off, unless im missing something? (or just getting old and grumpy)

No, just a bunch of people with attention deficit disorder.
By which I don't mean that they have ADD. They just don't get enough attention to feed their egos and are overcompensating.

I do it to sometimes

, no I definitely do not get any xp for that, I just love the spell graphical effects, so sometimes I just cast them for the fun of it. I am sorry if it sucks for you.

Khajiit understands that this is mainly what the walkers do when stood around waiting. This one has hit the squirrel in Rawl'kha many a time with a shooting star while waiting for people to switch bodies for trials/dungeons.

If that's literally all they do though then this one would pity them.

I guess Wayrest is the DC go to point for everyone to meet ?

It will be the same with all 3 alliances, I know if I go to Rawl'kha in AD there will be people standing about and spamming spells while they wait, I do it also when waiting for the Cyro queue but I play the lute

At the busy times is like a crazy firework display on the ground.

Im deffo getting old as I finish up a trader (trying to ignore the fact ive just turned red/blue/lightning/have glowing spikes or fiery weapons or other) and look back along the street and think to myself ‘I need to get back out into the wilderness and the peace and quiet of grinding trolls’

While waiting to get a group for - whatever or in Cyrodill que - I will ussualy spam spells.

Much like any twitch move, its there to keep brain occupied while its waiting on task at hand.
Nothing special really.

There are simply many people on one spot and most of them are waiting on groups to form.

I like to give spell cure buff to torchbugs in Deshaan. I dont know why, it's so... satisfying somehow..

It wouldn't be a problem if they could make spell effects and pets not render when you're in a menu. That and take the got dam screen shake off of Eruption, for fark's sake. Anyone who spams that around people is a piece of crap.

This is annoying sometimes, especially inside bank house in Rawl'kha...
Just imagine this issue will get much worse after One Tamriel, I'll be avoiding such populated areas like the devil in fear of the holy water.

Because of that spell spamming that zones are laggy as hell at peak hours, and you can even get timed out and DC if you travel to the respective wayshirne. Happens to me a lot in Mournhold. The DC-shan loading screen lasts for minutes and then you time out ...

Go to undaunted area, say healer lf vet daily drop a combat prayer and make everyone's arms all nice and blue. That is a very effective way to get picked up by a decent group in under 30s, I am sorry it bothers you but I have no intention of stopping.

Is spamming in populated areas the reason it takes so long for traders and bankers to appear in Grahtwood? Long loading is it number of people or number of spammers?

It would be nice to turn off irrelevant animation.

I wish ZOS would just make it so that any spell that hit an NPC or Guard would result in immediate bounty. People have come up with all sorts of cute reasons about why they do it, but we all know the real reason is to cause lag for other people. It's griefing pure and simple.

They get hit by offensive spells if you forget to tick the "avoid targeting innocents" and you incur bounty for it. And spamming heals may get you in trouble too- if you inadvertently heal a PC that is being chased by guards for doing something unlawful you incur bounty yourself; I'm not sure if the menu option covers this.
